Is it true that children that can speak more than two languages by age 5, tend to have genius iq's by adulthod
Two or more languages, i.e, english and spanish, or english and arabic, etc, for children under 4 or 5, tend to increase the overall iq's of the child and have a positive effect in their later stages of life as opposed to single language speakers.
Answers:
My husband could speak 2 languages by age 5 (English and Portuguese) and so the answer is NO
I speak 3 languages (French, English and Spanish). I can read and understand Portuguese but not speak and also some Italian and my IQ is 134 but I don't consider myself genius. I may be well versed in language but I am not in Science, Math and other subjects.
Speaking languages by 5 or 4 or whatever has nothing to do, in reality, with IQ So. no to your question
No, this only means that they have a talent for languages, not all things.
It is a learned behaviour, so has nothing to do with IQ.
Not really but it may actually be true. It all boils down to the individual. Some people don't speak 2 lang by age 5 and yet they turn out to be genuises (Leonardo DaVinci). A high IQ comes naturally but it can also be 'taught'.
This question is pretty much open to debate. There's really no right or wrong.
it certainly opens them up to a whole new world. I don't know how much truth there is to that statement, but in our community, one of the little bi-lingual kids, ended up being valedictorian of her class ! Actually, there's quite a few. Growing up, we heard English, Arabic, French, Spanish, within a 1 mile radius of our house !
