Can't concentrate, started classes hard time studying?

I am a college student and I am having a very hard time concentrating on my studies. I enjoy college but the anxiety is getting to me. I have a perscription for Prozac. Will this medicine help me with this problem?

Answers:
No, I don't beleive this medication will help, it has shown that it can have adverse affects. I am an older student who just went back to school and I took a very high tech. course and got good marks. I took Neurozyme, a new brain supplement that helps with clarity, mood and nerves. I took it before the first exam and got 87%. I did not take it before the final exam and got 79%. I had more clarity and more stamina with the first exam. Prozac does not help anxiety, it is an anti-depressant. If you are not depressed, how can it help you? Anxiety is caused by bad nerves, low self esteem and bad thinking about yourself. Stop drinking coffee and things that affect your nerves. Stop drinking alcohol, hangovers are a curse. Get exercise and good nutrition, eat raw food like apples and bananas every day. Fish 3x a week is good. Love yourself. If someone hassles you, say how bad their life must be in your head, smile and walk away. Meditate. Laugh out loud. at yourself at the world. What you learn is not important it is how you learn it, how you learn to learn. everything you need to know is already known, you are just focusing on a few details. Read and play. Take a class in something easy to build your confidence. Breathe.

dont party
get good sleep & lots of caffine
notes from friends
you'll be fine
I suggest xanax.Prozac is an antidepresant Where as xanax is an antianxiety/nerve pill
Its seems that the prescribing physician has deemed your condition necessary for medication. The physician would not have prescribed this medication if he/she did not feel that it would be effective. Advice: do what you paid the physician for and stop second-guessing he or she.
It might. From what I read when I did a quick search, Prozac is supposed to help treat depression- and it is very hard to concentrate when you're depressed.

Good luck with college!
that is abused.no other .no prozac spend money..and not well sleep its like a drug ..when you wake up you will be in the street.but i will tell you..find a good dr.takes some calcium pills..and stay away from some friends of yours.move away..and find a better college.you are in a colllege that is not giving you soup port..ok.that is the true.take someother alternative med..as herbs.
Yea you will never see sleep again!
i think it depends on the circumstances and the person taking it. you should talk to the doctor who prescribes the prozac, they're the best one to ask for help.
good luck with everyone!
I don't know anything about Prozac. I am also a college student and I used to have a very hard time concentrating until my psychiatrist prescribed adderall for me.
Well i suggest u do 45 minutes of study each night for each subject, so that gives you 15 minutes to relax, and in those 15 minutes you can think about whatever apart from school and study and whatever. Its also good to keep hydrated on water, and get really good sleep, so like at least 8 hours a night and if u havent finished off the work for that night you can wake up earlier in the mourning, as you always absorb more in the mournings than late at night. Um, i think u should also try mediatation where you sit or lay down and do lateral breathing and you think about something that makes you relaxed whether that be the beach or the night sky or being with a certain person. Also I would suggest masturbation as well coz thats a great relaxation technique good luck with everything
xx
Many prescription drugs described as anti-depressants work for anxiety. Prozac and the others often take a few weeks to work.
You should take a spoonfull of sugar..to help the medicine go down. I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself. But, seriously I had the same problem and I started taking Lexapro. It really did help..P.S. Relax. It gets easier.
One initiates their own responsibilities and morals/values. Be strict with your guidance approach. "Screw" the partying and the drinking if you can, or you're the type that can juggle it around

Getting fixed on medication/drugs can be either good or bad depending on consumption where it goes to be addiction

I graduated after 3 yrs in college, now going back another 2 yr transfer. Usually can steady myself with responsibilities and whatnot..

Good Luck
I am a perfectionist about my grades and taking too much of a class load aggravates me endlessly. I'd rather do fewer credits and get a higher GPA. I tend to over study and worry about every project and test. I am a good writer, but hate doing all the research for papers and organizing the info.

One thing is I changed direction after a semester of nursing and after that I've come to realize that was not my path and I am MUCH less aggravated this semester!

Maybe you are more ADD where you lose concentration that way. I tend to go off in lots of directions myself. Maybe drop a class or two if that works for you. Don't overstudy too many hours in a row. Today I took the entire day OFF and it was great to just do nothing! I think one day off a week from studying is a good idea.

Also get back to nature, just looking at a quiet lake or pond or enjoying time in the fresh air away from noise and people can be restful. Even if you park your car in a safe place near a park and just read there for a while might make things a little more pleasant.
