Hello Jules good to hear you have a job interview job well done you! You say your self confidence has taken dive due to your depression. But I think that you have taken a Hugh step forward already by applying for this job in the first place, so now it's onwards and upwards.

So, I would suggest that you go along to your local job centre and ask if you could attend one of their regular interview workshops. It will give you the opportunity to re familiarise yourself with interview skill techniques, and whilst you will obviously feel apprehensive about the interview, armed with information and advice about what to expect at the interview will be a big plus.
You should also feel more relaxed about going for the interview.

I would also suggest that you borrow a book from the library on how to make the most out of an interview.

You are not lazy or selfish but someone who has been hit by depression and it can be a long haul to get over this, so do not be too hard on yourself. Depression is nothing to be ashamed of it can and does hit one in four of the population in the UK at some point in they're life.
.
I do hope that I have been able to offer advice that has been helpful.

And good luck with the interview! What I would say is though do not get downhearted if you are not successful. Think of it as learning curve, so that you will better informed at your next interview. But that's not going to happen you will 'Get That Job'!

Bye xx

Plan something fun to do after the interview to reward yourself. Pick out a treat to buy that you can't afford right now, and remind yourself that you can buy it when you get a new job.
Try thinking about all the reasons you WANT to go back to work - and avoid any negative feelings.

You sound quite confident in your qualifications - but probably don't want to sound like a smart **** during the interview.

Perhaps try some relaxation exercises for a while before the interview and keep thinking positive thoughts. Remember that whoever interviews you is human as well.

Be concise, friendly but professional and make eye contact.

You have already said you are not lazy and selfish. Think of it is a challenge which you will enjoy. Whilst we all adapt to interviews, try to make sure you still remain yourself.

Good luck.
Go jules, go jules, its your birthday, go jules, yea.
Right up my alley:

1. power suit. That's what i do. If i dress like a rock star, I behave like one.

2. remember, this is not about you being qualified (you already are) you need to make the person you're talking to be able to picture you in the office next door. Speak with authority on what you know, but with a friendly demeanor. Let them think "I'd love for Ms. X to be here. I really like her. She knows her stuff.and she's got an awesome personality"

3. Basics: HOSE with a skirt, firm handshake, make sure your hands and shoes look awesome. don't sit too straight or lean too far forward in your chair when you speak (makes you look desparate) speak in specifics..and I cannot say enough .. POWER SUIT!
Good luck!! p.s. - being out of the industry so starting at the bottom is bullshit..you need to do some more personal cheerleading..you know what you know -- regardless of how long you've been gone. I was out of my industry for almost 4 years...then 1 year after being back in, am now the OWNER OF MY OWN PRECONSTRUCTION COMPANY...you know what you know! Show it off!
Buy new clothes, get your hair done and feel extra confident, plan to meet a friend, relative for lunch afterwards so you have something to look forward to at the end of it.something to keep you in high spirits.
Good LUck.
You already sound confident anyway, and sounds like you have the right attitude by believing you can do this. Go and do something a couple of days before you have never done before to conquer some fear to regain your confidence. Also, go and get your hair done (or even just get a friend to do) and blag a free makeover from a cosmetics counter. It sounds obvious, but research as much as you can about the company and job, this confidence will motivate you without you even knowing it. You certainly don't sound lazy, as you have gotten this far and even if you feel selfish, well hey! I think that's something we are all entitled to be now and again anyway! Go in there feeling like a million dollars and you will walk it. Good luck!
Conjure up in your Mindseye the most magnificent you, make that picture big and bright, see yoursels as happy and confident, like you're the most important person in the world, lie doen in a quiet room, do it now, relax and unwind, breath slowly, close your eyes and daydream, always keep yourself safe, but make those pictures the best you can, practice that a few times and your confidence will be boosted, self belief is most inportant, do it now.
just be yourself and always remember, dress to impress and have a happy face
Hi,
I suffered with depression badly for 5 years, i decided to go and get a full time job which i hadn't had in years, normally as a very nervous person i would shake feel sick etc but this time i went in very confident and with a very relaxed attitude, i asked questions about the job and chatted casually and showed i was willing to work. If you could have known me i was a different person from what i am now i got the job the next day i was over the moon that was a month ago and i still love my job. Good luck for your interview.
I can offer some help seeing as I have interviewed plenty of people in the last year. Just walk in there with an attitude of authority and confidence. Let them know that you are exactly what they are looking for and you know your stuff. Don't let them know that your are scared and shaking in your boots because that makes you seem week. They want a strong dependable leader who can do the job at hand and be counted on day after day. Let them see that when they look at you. Its all in the vibes you give off.
Also remember they will try to low ball you when it come to pay so ask for what you want not what you settle for and you'll most likely get it. I once asked for double what I had been currently been making and got it!
So reach fo the moon and take nothing less.
When i am nervous going for job interviews I imagine the interviewer sitting on the toilet.
Its not pervy or anything but it gives me a mental upper hand.
Start to live as if the job is already yours. Think about how that will feel and what you'll be doing. What used to motivate you previously? Take things slowly, a day at a time and enjoy each day. Each day as you wait for you interview start to build up a picture of how things may be in your new job. Each day set yourself a goal - one that's realistic and work towards that. Don't be over ambitious, but allow yourself the luxury of a pat on the back each day!
