most of my life - i was LESS SUICIDAL when NOT TAKING med's; read on.?

Has this been your case , too? I've been diagnosed with Bipolar; not sure if Bipolar one or Bipolar Two, but i think it's somewhere in the MIDDLE OF THE TWO. I remember that i felt More Suicidal when I was on various tri-cyclic anti-depressants. I take Zyprexa now & when I first starting taking it - I felt somewhat MORE suicidal. Have gained 20 lbs in 3 yrs ON zyprexa. any comments, etc. ? best wishes... (note: I don't feel suicidal now and have not after approx 2 or 3 mo's AFTER starting Zyprexa.

There are a LOT of antidepressants that will sometimes bring about suicidal feelings. If Zyprexa is working for you now, then don't worry about it. I played guinea pig when I went to my doc for meds. So I've been there done that. Once I found a med that worked, things got better. So good for you for sticking with it, just remember that if those feelings come back, immediately talk to your doctor, they might have to change your dosage. =)
i was more suicidal before meds still get down at times but never that low and 20lbs over 3 years really isnt that bad
it's that damn roller coaster of drugs and emotional pain..
I hear ya buddy..Diagnosed at 14..
I think the build up of different drugs in a bipolars body sends them nutty..
I'm no doctor, but just on intuition and reading some information here and there, I've surmised that medications are not the most healthy solution for solving one's problems. I really try to seek natural remedies and alternative medicine. Try breathwork, meditation, and yoga. As crazy as this sounds, you might even want to try ingesting psychedelic drugs to induce a catharsis; a state of epiphany and spiritual cleansing where you'll be sobbing and vomitting. Sounds a bit extreme, but it could provide the healing you need. We do live in a physical world, but few people really pay attention to their spiritual self.
I can't speak from personal experience with this, but I will say one thing: a miracle drug for one person can be totally ineffective against for or even worsen someone else's condition. This happens with physical problems, too; not every woman can pop an Ibuprofen once a month to deal with cramps, for example.

I'd suggest talking to your doctor about this.
Hey, the effect of Zyprexa varies .ie if u r in a manic or a depressed state. I know lots of people who take the drug and none of them felt suicidal .but we r all different. If u r taking other drugs (legal or otherwise), they may be reacting badly with Zyprexa. Note: Zyprexa may take some time to start having an effect, as it may need to build up in your system.

Hope that helps.
I have been pretty fortunate not to feel suicidal due to my meds, but I did want to say that I know it is hard to gain weight due to meds. I swtitched meds once and I gained 30 pounds in 6 months, I am really glad that you are not feeling suicidal now and that the meds you are currently on are helping you out.
