It depends on who has the thinking. You can look at the biography of John Nash who had to deal with delusional thinking. Basically you or the person with the thinking has to be able to identify it and realize that it is part of an illness and not act on the thinking and try to dismiss it as easily as possible. Medication may help.

I had a friend with delusional disorder -persecutory type (paranoid) and I simply told him what I thought and I think he fought to regain his sanity.

relax! take a break.. whatever is on top of ur mind is obviously not letting u off easy so I'd say get out of the office r the house n take a walk in the park.. take a whole day off.. go enjoy with a day with ur spose r ur girlfriend r if u r single go find a girl.. talk to her it'll get ur mind off of it.. women r the answer to everything..
Whatever you are doing at that time, for me it is when Im around certain people, take a break from that the situation, go and eat some food or go and smoke a cigarrette, just leave that situation,
If it is something that you are thinking try and distract your mind and think about something else, talk to some one, make your mind think about something different.
