Getting off Wellbutrin 150mg SR?

What is the safest way to get off of Wellbutrin 150mg SR? I have been on Wellbutrin for several months now and don't feel it is helping me. I am also on Abilify 10mg, and terrible on both together.

I cut back from 150mg to 75mg the other day and want to stay at 75mg for a week, and then go to half of that, etc. until I'm off of it completely.

Well, you will probably get a lot of answers telling you to go to your doctor to get off the meds. I will be no different. That is the best and safest way because some of these anti-depressants are really difficult to taper off of in general. You have the concept about tapering down right- that's what the doctor would probably do- but you really should check in because how this may affect you is unpredictable. Everyone is different. And you may really need the Wellbutrin to treat your depression and getting off of it prematurely could be very difficult for you.

that sounds about right, why are you getting off? sometimes it is hard to find the right combination of meds, I have been working with my shrink for three years but we finally found the answer,talk to your shrink.
Gradually reducing your dosage is the way to do it, but you really should have a doctor monitoring the process to avoid any withdrawal problems. Smart of you not to just stop altogether as some people have made the mistake of doing, including me. I learned my lesson the hard way. I guess at the time, a few years ago, i wasn't the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree
Don't discontinue taking it until you have talked with the doctor who prescribed it. If that's not possible, see another doctor, but please don't do it without medical oversight.
You probably don't want to hear this but maybe you need a HIGHER dosage. It helped me. Please talk to your doc. It is their responsibility to help you and it is yours to try. Good luck!
