What group of muscles go together for workouts?
I don't like pushing and pulling the same day. I'm looking to strenghten my upper body. Also, is gaining muscle and losing fat simultaneously possible?
Answers:
Generally, the pushing exercises work the triceps or the chest or both. For example, the bench press works both the triceps and chest.
Pulling exercises generally work the biceps.
There are other exercises that may not even be classified in those groups, like the shoulder rolls and back exercises (although some back exercises are pull).
I would suggest working out a few specific groups each day (versus the pull-push strategy). I work out the biceps, shoulders, upper back one day; the triceps, chest, mid-back another day; and legs, lower back the last day. (You can skip the legs, if you want only your upper body, but I don't suggest it).
Gaining muscle (through exercise) does lead to fat loss, as fat is burned as energy from the exercise. Much of it also has to do with nutrition as well.
