why have you got 2 nostrils instead of only one large hole?

because if we had one large one we would have very long nasal hair and they would not work so well due to them being so long they would just hang down and not filter the air that passes through our nostrils as this is why we have two separate nostrils

i guess it's a failsafe. We have two of a lot of things. Two lungs, Two kidneys, two eyes, two ears, two nostels.

i suppose when one is blocked we have the other. Evolution is a "crazy" thing, aint it ;)

because if you did have one large hole you would be so much more clogged up inside you would have hundreds of mucus and a lot of respiratroy illnesses
My logic ... i tink god made 2 bcs he tot if there was sumtin up 1 nostrilo . v can breath wih da other..
Why is it that when people have colds one nostril blocks up, but the other doesn't? Also, when people lie down on their side, the nostril that is higher unblocks? Don't say gravity because (and this is true) if you put a tennis ball under your arm and hold it there, the nostril which is on the other side will unblock.
Having two of something is usually better than having just one. If one stops working, the other will continue. Having one large hole, would be like putting all our eggs in one basket. That one hole gets blocked and we would be forced to breathe through our mouths which would cause us serious problems with eating and drinking. besides, our mouths are not exactly equipped for filtering the air we breathe and prevent dust and other foreign bodies from entering our lungs.
