My husband has high cholesterol, can he drink alcohol? he drinks alcohol almost everyday.?
Answers:
I'm not a doc. I have the same problem and here is what I know about myself.
I don't take any drugs to keep mine down and I don't know if he does either but this is good either way.
For many people, it is the empty calories that get you. Controlling your fat intake is key, but people think that you can eat and drink all of the low or no fat things you want because fat is the problem. Truth is that empty calories (orange juice, alcohol, candy, whatever) gets transformed into fat in the end and you are right back where you started. The Key for me is eat and drink what you want in moderation and exercise for a half an hour 4-5 days a week (brisk walking or running, etc.). Stay away from Red meat if you have to cut something out. That is the way to keep it in check. Tell him he can drink some alcohol per day (1 beer, 1 glass of wine) if he is willing to exercise too. Keep seeing the doctor to check on his progress.
Good Luck. It ain't easy at first.
Alcohol is bad for health it disturb the metabolism and it may raise cholesterol .
1)Better to control alcohol intake.
2)Let him not take high calories food for munching along with alcohol. He may take vegetable salads along with alcohol.
I do not believe that alcohol and Cholesterol are related, as Cholesterol is a fat. Alcohol has no fat. If he snacks on stuff like chips, and other fatty things, you may draw an indirect relationship there.
I am not sure about alcohol's contribution to the rise of cholesterol i would suggest you consult your doctor or better yet just pop into the pharmacy and ask your pharmacists they are usually a wealth of information.
On another tip I would say you need to worry about more than his cholesterol if he is drinking alcohol everyday.
Better for cholesterol it is lemon.Alcohol means shorter life.Even he drinks a lot of alcohol today,if tomorrow it is dead, all the life has no use.Just if he try to be alive, like a christian, just life forever it is the solution.
