How is it most people don't have ear problems and they listen to crazy music?
LOUD, noisy, hiphop, metal..punk and they keep listening for years. All i did was play one note(drum patch ) in my yamaha keyboard 2 years ago and it broke some nerve that made me have hyperacusis and tinnitus badly.i can't listen to any loud sound now, or it hurts alot deep inside the ear. What is the difference between me and them.. why they don't get anything?
Answers:
They will have problems. It might take a few years but when they are 40 they will be legally deaf. My grandfather went deaf from machinery so I used to put an ear plug in my left ear when I cracked up the music. "just in case" I know is sounds silly, but I can hear much better in my left ear now even though I never over did it.
With you it sounds like you just got unlucky. People trip and die in small accidents, I guess you can consider yourself lucky you only hurt your hearing.
Just because you did not listen the crazy music before. you're not used to them
Frequencies.. Tones. Not just volume..
Some tones and frequencies are more likely to produce a reaction from the ear than others, even if the "volume" (level) remains the same thoughout.
Some people are deffinatly more sensitive to certain tones than others, while some people appear to be deaf enough to not let loud volumes bother them.
Some music is naturally loud, and today's hyped-up boosted sub-woofer stereo equipment also serves up addition decibels to the mix, which is why some rap music can be heard a couple blocks away in a passing car, making it seem that the automobile is parked on neutral, and the bass vibration of the loud music propels the vehicle.
I myself listen to "noise"; a form of anti-music, completelly uncommercial and obscure, never trully promoted on radio stations, except once in a blood red moon when the DJ is doing a spotlight at 4am in the morning. To most people, this "noise" music is so unbearable that even at very low levels it disturbs them. Minimal technoise band PANASONIC are known to do today what Throbbing Gristle did in the late 70s / early 80s: play some musical frenquencies at live shows at a certain volume, resulting in internal organ convulsions in the audience members (not always a pretty sight).
Some crowd-control police vehicles used to have powerful speakers which would "play" tones and frequencies to rowdy crowds, creating organ convulsions as well often resulting in vomit and defecation. very effective crowd control method!
In any case, some people are just more sensitive to some frequencies than others. I myself am extremelly sensitive to most sounds & frequencies although I also have a very high tolerance level. Compared to my "apparent" hightened hearing, most other people seem partially deaf in my opinion. Although I am forced to listen to loud tones in headphones to get to sleep (my neighbour downstairs is a deaf psychopath), my hearing hasn't changed since I was 20 years old.
But most people consider listening to loud music to be a testament to their individuality, even though most people of their generation do exactly the same. I imagine it is a cultural thing, comparable to the chirping of birds, serving as a mating call: human males appear to think that listening to loud music in their cars will attract females to them.
Cheers
