How tall where you when you where 14? I'm worried :(?

Hey. I am 14 years old and I am 5'2-5'3. I turned 14 at the end of July. Am I short for my age? I am worried! When will my spurts happen? I am also really worried beacuse my mom is only 5 foot tall, and my dad is 5.8-.9. I'm never going to get tall!

You've still got plenty of growing time ahead of you. I knew a guy in high school who was about 5'2" at your age, but the last time I saw him he was in his early 20s and had sprouted to over 6'. Give yourself time and don't fret about it.

PS: Don't sweat the negative comments from answerers either. It seems that just about every question draws a few of these, so just ignore them as you would ignore items on a store shelf you have no intention of buying.

I'd say you'll get at least as tall as your dad. Guys don't usually stop growing until about 17 or 18.

I was 5'2" and was the smallest boy in my class. I got picked on a bit, but after I left school I grew 6 inches in a year and grew to an admittedly still not tall 5'10".
honey please i'm 23 and i'm 5'3 it doesn't matter how old you are it's all in your genes. be happy with you're height.
Don't worry about it.. I am 15 years old and I am the same height 5'2-5'3 but I am a girl. Especially since you just turned 14 you'll be FINE. just give yourself some time to grow!! = )
I was 5ft.8 the tallest kid in class!
My husband was shorter until he was 19. He had a growth spurt that year, and he grew 6 inches! He's now 6'5".

no don't worry boys in my grade(15 yr olds) are STILL shorter than my 5'8 stature i can pet most of them on the head while i'm in flats and they're in full foot ball uniforms including helmet

some of my friends who are 16 are tht height but they are girls.. you'll probably hit a growth spurt in a year or two
just dont worry about it cuz it doesnt even matter if you're short or tall..
From what I have been told you should be around the same height as your mothers father as for growing spurts each person is different and if ya end up short so what it is the person inside that counts
I was 4 ft 11 when I started high school. I grew six inches in one year and am now 5' 8". My son and both my brothers were about 5 ft tall when they started high school and they are all close to 6 ft tall now. There is hope for you so don't despair.
I hate to say it but usually your growing spurt is from 13 and a half to 14 and a half. Now that's the spurt as you call it, you will still get taller until you are 17 or 18 usually, It's when your pubic gland releases the groth hormone. I have heard of people that grow after that, but rare, keep the faith and I hope it happens for you.

My brother was a late bloomer. He ended up 5'7" but he had a tough time at the beginning of high school. My parents took him to the hospital and in the tests and stuff, it was mentioned then that there ARE growth hormones or procedures that can wake up the system, especially at your age. IF there is problem, you can get it going at this stage of your life! SO, check that out maybe and by the way, my brother considered himself SHORT all his life anyway, yet he became a well known metal rocker for a while and was artistic and cool and like-able and had at one point SIX girlfriends at one time! I was 6'1" and JEALOUS as hell!
Boys sometimes don't have a growth spurt till they are 16. For example my sons friend who is a few months younger was about 5ft9 by the age of 14, but my son was only about 5ft1 at the same age even though he is older. My son is now nearly 16 and is growing as i look at him. If you are worried i would ask your parents to take you to see your doctor. Saying all this it is possible you may not be all that tall as the old saying goes that boys are always taller than their mothers. Your mother is fairly small. If this is the case, well that is fine too as smaller men can be just as good as tall ones.
If you are a boy, then you could still grow an inch or two. If you are a girl, you probably are as tall as you will ever get. If you wanted to be taller, you should have picked different parents! There isn't much you can do about your height, except learn to live with it. There is still some time left for you to get closer to your Dad's height, but I doubt you will ever see "eye to eye" with him. It's called GENETICS. Welcome to our world!

Well, I'm 14 right now and I'm about 5'8". Yes, it's true that your parents' height is a determining factor in your height. But, you have genes inside of you from many of your ancestors. Perhaps some of them were tall. However, the farther away in your family tree an ancestor is from you, the less likely it is that you'll get one of their genes. Don't worry, though. You'll probably still grow at the very least a few inches. Even if you don't, you're not really all that short. After all, it's what's inside that counts!
It sounds like you have the curse of the tiny mother, sort of like my father did. He is 5'7" and came from parents who were 6' and 4'11". My brother was about your height at 14 and is now 5'6-1/2" and is fully grown. It didn't stop him from having many, MANY girlfriends and finally a lovely wife and kids, so I wouldn't worry about that! (BTW, my dad and uncles ranged from 5'7" to 6', so there is room for variation in a genetic mix; if your parents have any tall siblings, you might have a chance of inheriting a tall gene somewhere in there. )

Also, since you are growing now, be sure to get adequate nutrition; sometimes lack of proper nourishment in growing boys and girls can stunt growth. Cheers!

not to make you feel bad but both your parents are somewhat short and im 13 and 5'5"-6 but my mom is 5'0" and dad 6'2"
