What has your experience been, before, durning, and after having a Cystoscopy test done?

I'm having a Cystoscopy test done soon and i'm just worried about it. So I was hopeing to hear from other males who have had it done, and what their experiences have beeen?

A little uncomfortable-embarrassing if you're shy and there's a female nurse in the room (don't be, they've seen it all before).
Ask about getting an antibiotic. I wound up with bladder infections on 2 occasions in the past when I wasn't given one. I'm an "old Geezer" and have had several Cystoscopic exams, so it's kind of routine for me now. Having said that, I still don't view them as a fun thing to do!! But the COLON check ups are much more uncomfortable.

Good luck and try not to obsess about it in advance and you'll do alright.

since you are having this procedure done then I assume you know what will happen. The test is relatively painless (local anasthetic is used) however, the test is quite uncomfortable. Just relax, close your eyes and think about something else, it will be over before you know it!
I work in a surgical area in a hospital. I have not had one done before. If you are having it done in a operating room, they will give you anesthesia to put you out. The dr will look inside your bladder with his camera. They may give you local anesthesia in that area. It is usually a quick procedure. Afterwards, they may send you home with pain medication, just in case. But in my experiences, most patients after having this done are not in pain, just a little uncomfortable. They will want you to urinate before you go home. There may be a little bleeding , which is ok. Just relax. You can ask the anesthesiologist to give you something for anxiety before going into the procedure. Good Luck
