anyone here ever had jock itch and how do u get rid of it?
Answers:
I've not had it, but you need an antifungal to get rid of it. Athletes foot treatments tend to be used to treat jock itch.
no had it myself but canesten hc is excellant
Pinch and roll buddy, pinch and roll.
seriously bathe the area with neat vinegar
Go to your local GUM clinic and get tested for infections
Worked with one once, he wasn't such an irritant (sorry to all my Scottish friends, only a little joke)
scratch it, if that hurts too much, put some lanacane on it, if that fails, scratch somewhere else until it really hurts and that should take your mind away from it. tata
canesten
and then a bit of talcum powder around the scrotum will help the sweating
You need an anti-fungal cream and/or powder. You can use lotrimin AF cream or any other similar anti-fungal product. You can order Zeasorb-AF powder through your drug store, if they don't carry it on the shelves. Or you can use yogurt. Eat plain yogurt about 3 times a week, and/or use it like a cream on the area. It will smell, but the acidophilus bacteria in the yogurt neutralizes yeast.
This is also the same fungus that results in athlete's foot, thrush (white tongue), vaginitis (in women), ringworm and other skin rashes. It is the Candida Albicans fungus (yeast).
For basic information on the systemic yeast syndrome, check out the link on the Welcome page of www.hufa.org.
Put Listerine on it. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's a common remedy. Try it.
clotrimazole cream same as canestan without the brand name.lots cheaper
ointment go to a doctor
No, being female, but looked it up in my aromatherapy book for you.
Treatment is
wear loose fitting underwear - boxers - to keep the area cool (jock itch is a fungus called tinea cruris, so likes warm damp conditions). Discard tight jeans or sportswear.
Wash with 2 drops of either lavender or tea tree essential oils in a bowl of water. Then add 2 drops of either oil to 1 teaspoon vegetable oil and massage in morning and night till infection clears.
Keep area clean and dry - a tea tree soap will help discourage re-infection. Clean pants every day, because you could reinfect yourself and this is someting one should do anyway.
I would still see your doctor just in case it is something else, but the book describes jock itch as scaly and itchy.
I threw away all my underwear, jockstraps etc and bought new ones after washing myself and getting anti-fungal powder.
