Having trouble sleeping..HELP!?

For the last couple of days I have not been able to sleep. If I do sleep it is about 5 am and I have to get ready for school and stuff at 7, even then I keep waking up. Is there any at home remedies to help with this?

Answers:
I sympathize with you. going through the day while extremely tired is miserable. there are a few things you can do at home.

1. Do not take naps. This just confuses your body.
2. Exercise. I know you probably don't have much energy to exercise since you haven't been getting much sleep... but try.
3. Avoid caffeine and cold/allergy meds.
4. Try not to think too much while you're lying in bed. if you find yourself milling over something... try and focus on relaxing your body.
5. Journaling. Sometimes writing about what's on your mind helps you clear your mind.

If none of this helps, talk to your parents about seeing your doctor. You shouldn't have to live on 2 hours of sleep a night.

Good luck! I hope you get some sleep soon!
sleeping pills !
2 tablespoons in a pint of honey, mixed up really good.
About 30 minutes before you plan on going to bed, take (2) teaspoons full. If you're not sleepy by then take (2) more... then go to sleep!
I'd say take sleeping pills and goto bed early for few days and then slowly take it easy with the pills and let your body get used to sleeping early.

If that doesn't help goto a doctor and seek help for insomnia.
find some sleeping pills that will help you-(I don't ever need meds to help me sleep or I'd know.)
try Melatonin, very natural, very good sleep. It's in the vitamin supplement section of your local pharmacy or grocery store. Works for me. I have a friend who likes Unisom, worth a shot.
use lavender oil & pour a few drops on ur pillow.
try massaging ur hair with some oil wid few drops of lavender oil.
will certainly help !
What is on your mind that keeps you from staying asleep? Are you under a lot of stress or pressure lately? Before going to bed, mentally prepare yourself. Turn off the tv and music in the room and get into bed about 30 minutes before you want to be asleep. You could use this time to do a puzzle book, read a good book, write in a journal about the thoughts on your mind. NO SCHOOL RELATED ACTIVITIES OR WORK! The key is mental preparation. You have to clear your mind so that it will let you sleep. If we are thinking about too many things, our minds simply won't let our bodies rest. Also, a warm bath before bed can work wonders in the relaxation department, which is the whole idea about going to bed a half hour before you want to be asleep.
Find a spot on your bedroom wall and stare at it. Concentrate on staying awake and not moving a single muscle, not even blinking.
I have this problem from time to time, and this is what I do to promote sleep. Get into the same routine, ie- the same bed time every night, have a bath or shower before retiring to bed so that your body feels nicely relaxed, and a warm drink like milk. When you get into bed, make sure your jaw is as relaxed as possible, and take deep breathes, concentrate only on your breathing, and don't let your mind wander off onto something you may be worrying about. I find this does the trick for me, and before I know it is morning, and I feel refreshed. Good luck.
Marijuana... seriously! No sleeping pill hangover.. wake up refreshed and ready to go!

Oh, Ive heard valerian root is good too. You can get it at a health food store or in some pharmacies next to the vitamins... the marijuana is another story!
megs1bq has my vote, everything said in that answer is correct.
I have the same problem sometimes. I would say medication is the last thing you should try when all else fails. Try not to eat anything sugery before you go to bed. If it goes on you should see a doctor though.
