Can any one recommend a unit to work at as a nurse?

Peds is so hard because a kid will come in and have an awful illness its hard.
I liked OB it is a happy place with an occasional tear (when a mom gives up a baby, doesn't bond with a baby or loses a baby) but it's over all nice. (Labor/delivery)
I also loved the OR during my rotation.
I was a psych nurse for awhile (talk about fun and interesting and scary)!
You need to wait until you have tried most of the units before deciding where you will want to work. Do not listen to what others say but go with what feels right to you. No unit is going to be easy not matter what anyone tells you.
I started out in the obstetric unit. I did enjoy it a lot...It's generally a happy place...although there are occasionally very sad times as well. I guess you could say the work is less physically demanding since the patients are normal healthy women, so there isn't as much lifting and pulling...although there is some. I confess I got bored with OB eventually though, because it was always same-o...same-o.
My wife loves the NICU, but she likes babies to start with. She always says you either change baby diapers or adult diapers. We always see parents and babies around town that she took care of. The down side is the rest of them are crack babies and you have to deal with those people.
