?"s bout LPN and RN??

ok well i want 2 get my LPN and my RN.. but i would like 2 kno wat is so different from the LPNs then the RN wat do they do that is different?? wat type of work do the RN do??

RN is the upper degree nurse and can do a lot more. The LPN works under the RN. RNs have more responsibility and are paid more. Some hospitals won't let the LPNs do much of anything and some won't even hire them. LPNs work mostly in nursing homes and doctor's offices.

i heard that the only thing an RN can do that a LPN cannot do is start IV's and something else really minor. My son is heading into a nursing program. Someone suggested that he obtain his LPN then start working and go for his RN in the evenings. Good Luck!
I'd advise you to contact your local chapter of the American Nurses Association -- they can be an absolute goldmine for people in the nursing industry, or who are thinking about becoming one.
If you have the ability to do so, go for the RN straight out of the gate. LPNs have to do all the "c rap" work, get no respect and get less pay than the RNs. If you plan on going for the RN anyway you might as well just bite the bullet and do it now. It's nice to get to work but do you really want to clean bedpans in a nursing home for the next 2 years?

Well, when I went to college to get my degree as a Registered Nurse, I went with several LPNs. Without exception, they were amazed at what they did not know that RNs learn as a matter of their education process. I strongly suggest that if being a Registered Nurse is your goal, that you skip the LPN bit, it is ultimately a waste of your time and money.
