Pain when bending my neck?

Just in the last 24 hours my back has had this weird pain mostly on the left side, up in the soft muscle area by my shoulder blade. I found that if i bend my neck and head toward it sends a sharp pain down the upper left side. Anyone know what this might be, or is this just some general thing that will pass? Thanks!

Best case scenario, you could have slept on it wrong or pulled something and it will go away on it's own; you can treat symptoms with Motrin, 200-800 mg every 6 hours, and heat or ice packs, whatever feels better. Worst case scenario, you could have a pinched nerve from a compressed spinal disc, but this is unlikely. If the pain continues or gets worse in the next few days, I'd call the doctor.

You never had a stiff neck, or neck pain before? Most likely, the pain will subside in a day or two. If not, then see a doctor. Right now, you have nothing to worry about- you probably just moved wrong or slept on it funny.
see a doctor.
most probably you have pulled a muscle. light exersice will improve the blood circulation in that area. Massage should help and give relief for some time.
If you have a fever and it hurts to bend your neck forward you need to call a doctor.
