9 years old boy any suggestions ?
Wetting his pants at night (while sleeping only) 9 years old boy any suggestions ?
Answers:
This will obviously sound pathetic to most people, but i wet the bed until i was twelve. my doctors tried medication, a nasal spray, no drinks after five, etc, etc, with nothing working whatsoever! even bribery didn't work! it turns out that my body clock was the wrong way round. i would barely go to the toilet in the day time, my body storing it all for after hours. i was given an alarm to put on my bed, so as soon as it got wet, it would start to go off. this would wake me up, so i then had to go toilet, come back, change the bedding and put the alarm back on. after a couple of weeks of getting woken up at night, by body changed its pattern and i stopped going in the night. it was great! Hope this helps, and that your doctor can help you with this.
that happened to me even though im a girl and my mom let me wear pads at night but since hes a boy get him some overnight undies
i grew out of it eventually and i wake up to go to the bathroom
Fish oils sometimes work otherwise a sleep therapists could help
oh bless him, it sounds like something is bothering him, you need to sit him down and have a chat
Is his father in the picture? Boys need Dads to be there to feel comfort.
do not give him anything to drink for about 2 hrs before bed and have him go to the bathroom right before he gets into bed even if he says he doesn't have to go.
Maybe he is afraid of the dark and does not wanna walk in the house when he cannot see. Try having a trail of night lights from his room all the way to the bathroom. You said he was having nightmares this might help that as well.
Most kids outgrown bedwetting by the age of 11-12. Buy him some "GoodNights." Try to curb his drinking after dinner.
No liquids after 5pm. Make him urinate prior to going to bed.
Go to the doctor and council him, sometimes it happens naturally
get child diapers, goodnights i think they're called, he will probly grow out of it over time, just hasnt got bladder control wjile sleeping yet.
Make HIM change the sheets and make the bed. Do it every time. He won't like that, and will soon make "other arrangements".
take him to a family doctor, there might be something medically wrong. whatever you do, don't scold him for it!! it may not be his fault, and scolding could actually make it worse.
I think it is OK if it happens once in a while. If not seek medical assistance. Good luck
Take him to the Dr in case there is a medical reason.
Otherwise he will grow out of it...
Was he OK previously? This is often a sign of serious emotional problems. Maybe a divorce, death in the family, something like that? It might also suggest child abuse.
Please have him see a doctor for a proper evaluation.
uhh..make him pee before going to bed..
I would suggest a visit to your doctor. Check for any problems with the kidneys or bladder. For now limit liquids after 6pm. Other than that rubber sheets or depend undergarments for the night.
Some kids just have that problem. Buy him some overnight pants, and don't let him feel guilty about it or punish him for it. He can't help it. I promise.
Let him know there is nothing to be ashamed of. He'll outgrow it eventually! Until then, pull-ups are a great option that look like regular underwear.
actually this is common, as his body is too small yet to hold his urine all thru the night.
They make night time undies- let the boy wear them, do not redicule him, he will grow out of this stage within a few yrs..try not to worry too much.
ask your dr about it for comfort too.
This is very normal. Some children do it until the teens. They sleep so hard they do not even feel The "sensation" to wake up and go to the bathroom. I do not know where to find it,but there is something like a pad to put on the bed and when it feels wet an alarm goes off waking the child.
The more he gets upset about it the longer he will do it. Leave it go. he will grow out of it. Have you ever seen a grown man do this? It will be ok.
Wake him up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom..Limit on the fluids an hour before bed time.Works with my 3yr old.good luck!
There's a few things.
Nothing to drink after 6 or 7 at night.
There's an alarm thing that wakes them up when it gets wet. Although that's a little late.
Setting an alarm and wake them up to go sometime in the night until they mature out of it.
My wife's 9 year old daughter kept doing it and we had her in pullups. Once I bought some she didn't like, so she wouldn't wear them. She stopped wetting the bed. She was actually just being lazy. True story. She hasn't had one accident since she stopped wearing them.
no liquids after 8pm and pee before going to bed. Pray for not having nightmares
My boy had the same problem when he was little. Even now he wake up during the night and go to the bathroom, if he drinks lot of water.
But he can control himself now.
You never must drink water after 6 pm. Or juice, tea or anything else
If this has just started you might want to keep a close eye on him. Children who just start wetting the bed can be caused by a targedy .If he has always had problems then you need to make sure he doesn't have anything to drink 2 hours before he goes to bed.Maybe check with a doctor to make sure he doesn't have any bladder problems. Good luck
