"Life Line Screening"- Your opinion on this service?
My Mother recently turned 81 years old. She received a pamphlet or flyer in the mail from Life Line Screening, based in Cleveland, OH, offering Stroke/Carotid Artery Screening, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening, Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening and Osteoporosis Screening via a mobile unit all for the low price of $129.00. Is this legitimate? Is this a waste of her time? I checked the service out on the internet and it seems legit to me. Thank you for your help.

Your mother probably has health insurace and/or Medicare. The best thing to do would be to speak with your Mom's physician to see which of these have already been taken care of. There is some risk involved with all testing and it probably does not make sense to do unnecessary testing. Also, who would be doing the interpretation of the scans? Some random scan technician or an actual physician? What are the qualifications of that person? What happens if they find something - do they then offer surgery or pills to "cure" it? It sounds fishy and unnecessary to me.
