How come if you slit your wirsts you'll hit a main artery & die but if you chop the wholee arm off you'll live

it all depends on the bleeding. and also, you wont live if you lose an arm. its all about the blood loss. basically, don't do either.
You'd die from chopping off the arm too if you were allowed to bleed for too long. In the same way, you'd live through slitting the wrist if you got medical attention soon enough.

So it can really depend on your mood. Some people may get a cut on the hand and not die from the wound it self but actually from the shock. So if you go into shock you will more than likely die!!
