If you slept with someone who had A.I.D.S or HIV and they found out after at the doctor, are they required?

No requirements of any kind, unfortunately. Hospitals in particular are not allowed to give that kind of information to anyone.

Sadly, this type of thing happens all the time.

This matter is slightly different from state-to-state, but generally speaking, legally, nobody is required to tell you anything. In fact, any healthcare professional who knows cannot even do anything that might give you a hint, or they are liable to be sued.
Since you were both taking the proper precautions for safer sex protection [RIGHT?], there would not be any need to disclose anything, since you have no chance of contracting anything.

That having been said, in my opinion the person who found out they had HIV should tell their recent sex partners, so that they can go and get tested as well. It depends on the laws of each state whether or not they are legally obligated to do so.
