Anyone here work nights ? How well do you sleep .?
do you sleep like you would at night or do you toss and turn? Sometimes I cant even fall asleep after being up for over 24 hours.
Answers:
MY HUSBAND WORKED NIGHTS AND SLEPT 4 HOURS IN THE MORNING AFTER HE GOT HOME, THEN WAS UP IN THE AFTERNOON AND BACK IN BED AT 6PM FOR ANOTHER 4 HOURS. I DON'T KNOW HOW HE DID IT , BUT IT WORKED WELL FOR HIM.
depends on if you have children at home and how well you sleep in the daytime.
Yes, I ahve worked nights all my life and love them. When I come home I eat a supper type meal as it is the end of my day. I shower and then read the newspaper etc. just like I would if I was coming home at 5pm instead of 8am. I put my self to be around 2pm and sleep very well for about 6 hours. On days when I am just a little hyper i will take 1/2 shot of whiskey about and hour before going to bed.
I have in the past, not now.
I slept pretty well, actually. I could just fall asleep when I needed to.
I used to work nights. I would be so exhausted I'd immediately fall asleep once I got home, but I'd only be able to sleep a short while and then I'd toss and turn and eventually get up. It's probably a good thing I didn't have a car during that time because I was definitely too tired much of the time to be driving around.
I was on graveyard for 8 years and I got home at 8 am I stayed up until about 2pm then slept until about 9pm and left for work at 11pm I hated it and saturday was the worse
I used to do 24/7 rotating shifts for years we would do 2 days 7am to 3pm - 2 days 3pm to 11pm and 2 days 11pm to 7am then we would have 3 days off (although technically not really 3 days because your first day off you finish at 7am) we would then start again 3 days later at 7am to 3pm so you had to force your body to quickly change its patterns - I could sleep at any time of the day although now Im not doing it my body clock is pretty screwed up it not only screws with your sleeping patterns but your eating patterns etc - some people can make it work and others cant.
You need Melatonin....works a treat.
The hormone melatonin (hereinafter referred to as 'mel') is now a popular therapy for jet-lag and disturbances of sleep. Claims are made for improved sex-life, longevity and even lowering of blood pressure. Melatonin is not licensed for sale in pharmacies in the UK at the present time but can be bought over the counter in health food shops. Recent newspaper reports suggest that the Medicines Control Agency has written to the suppliers of the synthetic hormone to tell them that in future it will only be available on prescription. A survey of the medical literature reveals investigations are being done by many workers to determine the efficacy and side effects of the use of mel in a number of conditions. The main focus of attention is on sleep disturbances, seasonal affective disorder, neuroendocrine disorder and cancer therapy
I used to work 12 hour shifts 7p-7a. I would get home abou 900am after taking kids to school, pjs on after eating breakfast, bed and read or watch a little tv, asleep by 10am and up by 4:00pm. No problems sleeping what-so-ever. Good luck!
