What is the reason why you aren't supposed to give your baby anything but milk until they are 6 months?

Answers:
The Gastro intestinal tract is Immature or not fully FUNCTIONALLY developed

Milk especially mothers milk has all the nutrients the baby need in a digetible form

YOU NEED TO INTRODUCE ONE FOOD AT A TIME TO BE SURE THEY ARENT ALLERGIC, AND THE BODY NEEDS TO LEARN TO DIGEST PROPERLY ALL DIFFERENT KINDS OF THINGS, AND STARTING EVERYTHING AT ONCE IS TOO OVERWHELMING FOR THE BABY AND HIS LIL ORGANS.
dont know but thay shure poop alot for only drinking ware dose it com from
you mean formula or breast milk?

b/c their digestive system is not mature enough to digest anything else. you can start feeding them infant cereal at 4 - 5 months. my pediatrician said that their liver cannot break down the infant cereal or other foods and it will just build up and they could get really sick and they would become even more fussy.
Basically because they are unable to digest anything else...their system cannot cope.
Not only are you supposed to only feed babies formula for the first 6 months because of a possible allergic reaction but also because they need to be getting all of their calorie intake from the formula. It has all that they need during that time. Things like rice cereal that are plain and bland are ok IN ADDITION to the formula but juices, water, and fruits and veggies need to be waited on until their digestive track has had time to mature.
I think because their digestive system is not ready yet to any other kind of food, milk is a complete food for this age.
There are a number of reasons, but here are the ones I know of:

1) The baby's digestive system is not ready
2) The baby could choke (doesn't know how to chew or swallow pieces of food)
3) Peanut butter, honey and or canned foods for instance could kill a baby due to botulism
because their digestive systems are still developing and may not tolerate solids. however, if your baby isn't satisfied with just milk, its perfectly acceptable to introduce solids earlier, as early as 3 or 4 months. but start with pablums, preferably rice, since it is easiest digested
