Is it possible to break a bone without pain?

Yesterday I fell down a flight of stairs and twisted my right foot backwards and caught it on a railing. Today it's tender to the touch and hard to walk on. However, I don't think anything is broken because I'm not in agony.

A few years ago, however, I broke my pinky in three places and it never hurt...they said I was in shock but all I remember was it was really warm.

What I'm wondering is...is it possible to have broken my toe or the area around it without it hurting a lot. It is swollen and purple, but I'd expect that considering how hard I hit it.

If there is a focal tender spot then there may be a fracture. You have to use antiinflammatories and elevate the leg and try not to walk on it in case it is a fracture. You probably sprained the ankle badly but the toe may be fractured
one time my friend popped his shoulder out during a football game. But he didn't feel it until the game was over and lost his adrenaline rush after the game. so i 'm guessing it is...
