After bathing . . . why is it said to be better to pat dry as opposed to moving towel over skin to dry off ?

Real question...not looking for " odd " replies. Thanks.

Answers:
you have already washed off all dead skin, when you move the towel over your skin you are irritating the new skin..versus patting and leaving the new skin be.
Your skin has exfoliated the dead skin and bacteria. If you move the towel around all over your just rubbing that junk in. But that's what med books say; unless your scrubbing for surgery, you should be fine either way.
Patting doesn't dry your skin out as bad as rubbing. It's good to pat your skin then apply lotion. That seals in the moisture.
