how can i convert 40 PPM into MG per 8 oz of fluid.?

I have congestive heart failure and need to know how much sodium is in my local water supply. They could only give me PPM numbers.

Answers:
This is 0.004% so 8/100=0.08*0.004=0.00032. This gives the number of oz of sodium in the water, next multiply by 28.3 to get the number of grams this is 0.009 then multiply by 1000 to get the mg value which is 9mg

I think you're going to have a bit of trouble there. PPM measures voulme while MG measures weight.
Theres about 227,000 MG of water in 8 ounces so if your sodium concentration is 40 PPM that's 4 parts per 100,0000 so about 8-9 MG of sodium in 8 oz of water.
