How can I find information about doctors in my area and their specialties?

I used to know a web site where you could find a list of doctors in the area with a certain specialty, what their licenses were, how long they had been practicing, and whether there were any problems with them. I believe it was by states. Anyone know what I'm looking for?

Try www.abms.org or www.docboard.org these are only two out of a few great ones I found in the book called "Healthcare for Less" by Michelle Katz on how to choose a doctor. If you are trying to find a good doctor, I would recommend getting this book at your local Barenes and Noble or even Borders or at www.amazon.com..it will help guide you through the process and help you ask the right questions.
