Is obesity a disease as is alcoholism?
I've seen relationships, where the man is a alcoholic and the woman is overweight, I don't believe this a match by no means. But I believe they are both considered as a disease.
Answers:
I never seen, this you could have something here, they are both diseases though
yes. it is a disease. u get large by overeating, and overeating is a sin. u have to realize that u can eat tomorrow, and the day after that. it;s called glutney-greediness
Read about enabling. People tend to match up with others who enable or mesh with their own addictions or neuroses.
I believe they are addictions. If addictions can be classified as diseases not just for the sake of insurance companies making money off from them, then they are diseases.
They are both emotional diseases, yes. They are linked to gratification patterns, usually spiritual in nature. Counseling with someone who can find the source of the cycle and break the pattern is the key.
It depends what you call a disease :-) because in many cultures there is no obesity at all. And western food does not help either.
"Obesity is definitely a serious disease; "People can literally "eat themselves to death;" It has been the case with
some middle -age adults with the disease and others who
suffer from it" But there is help for these type of diseases "Just like Alcohalics Anonymous "or" Narcotics
Anonymous.
"Too much consumption of food add numerous calories
to the body {"Not to mention carbohydrates "and' saturated fats "To" much of this puts strain on all
cardiac muscles "Resulting in heart failure because the
heart is trying funtion with excessive weight on the
body "Not to mention the constant mountains of food
being forced into the blood stream."
"If you know someone who has this disease "or'
somebody you care about "Don,t delay!
"You can,t make the person go get help "But however
"You can bring the help to the person."
Yes, both are diseases.
Overeating is a way some people deal with stress; excessive consumption of alcohol is also a way some people deal with stress. (And haven't you noticed all the obese MEN out there -- and the alcoholic women -- or are you making excuses for the guys who are too fat? "Girls are fat; I'm just big-boned and strong." :P ) Because theses are unhealthy behaviors, they can be called emotional diseases. They are both serious health issues, although of the two, I think that alcoholism is worse, because no one ever uses being obese as an excuse to beat their children or spouse. You'll never hear "It isn't my fault that I threw my kid down the stairs. I just ate a whole chocolate cake and wasn't in control of my actions."
