Exactly how many people died from cigarette smoking related death in 2006?

Im not sure about the States but its about 10 times the number of people killed in road accidents. That figure would differ from country to country because of the different road fatalities figures in each country but it would be about that in most western democracys..

A exact number is almost impossible to reach. Say someone smokes 2 packs a day and is dying of lung cancer. But because their immune system is very low they get pneumonia and die. That death isn't necessarily reported as a smoking death. But then again should we count a person who just started smoking and goes to the corner store to buy a pack of smokes ONLY and gets shot in a attempted robbery? If it weren't for smoking they would never have been there now would they?
when i was in highschool, the numbers were about 350,000 from tobacco, and about 250,000 from alcohol, and like 25,000 from all illegal drugs combined. I doubt that anything has changed in the last 20 years or so, they may be able to keep them alive longer on machines but the numbers will still be about the same.
about 450.000 die of cancer/ yr. of that 90,000 die of lung cancer...hard to say how much cigs cause. arterial sclerosis.bladder cancer heart problems... all related to smoking.Check American cancer society website.
