How can I tell if I've actually gotten an Advair dose from the diskus?

I was just prescribed the Advair diskus and I can't feel any sensation of a powder or spray from the diskus entering my mouth or any taste or odor from it. Is this to be expected or am I doing something wrong in handling the diskus?

You may feel as though you haven't received your dose even though you have. This is very common. Many people do not taste or feel the dose. Don't worry, you have received your dose. Do not take an additional dose. It's important to follow your doctor's advice and take the recommended dose of Advair they have prescribed. Advair is taken twice a day, every day—once in the morning and once at night, approximately 12 hours apart.

You may notice some improvement within 30 minutes of using the Advair. Maximum results may take a week or longer. Even if you don't see immediate improvement in your asthma, it's important to keep using Advair twice a day, every day, as directed by your doctor. Talk to your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

If you forget a dose, just take it as soon as you do remember. If it's close to the time of your next dose, just wait until your scheduled time to take your next dose, do not take an additional dose.

The most common side effects that people experience when using it are ear, nose, and throat irritation, respiratory symptoms, headaches, stomach irritation, and general muscle aches, most of which should diminish with time. See your doctor if you continue to experience any of these symptoms. Or consult your doctor if you have severe symptoms, develop hives, a rash, swelling, or have an asthma attack that you can't treat with your short-acting bronchodilator, such as albuterol, or your other regular medication.

when i first used one, I couldn't taste it either. After some use, now i can. Just hold it correctly, they are simple to use.
Ive been on the advair diskus for over a month. Breath out all the way and then push the dose meter back so the little hole is open and then breath in real fast and as deep as you can.. For me i can feel a taste so maybe your not breathing in fast enough.Hope this helps.
