Why is your period seven days?

Always wondered how can you bleed for 7 days and not bleed to death

Answers:
I have wondered the same many times...Its had to believe anyone could bleed that much and not die.It usually takes that long for the lining of you uterus to be stripped away...No big deal.
It is not always 7 days, and it is not like blood constantly spurting from a vein. It's the lining of the uterus shedding and is really very little blood.
Well, it's not always that number of days, it varies.
The amount of blood is actually really not much at all, it's just more of a show.
Oh dear, I hope these women set you straight.
