neck muscle or node?

on my right side of my neck on the posterior triangle, i felt what i thught was a 3cm swollen lymph node. it did not hurt and felt fleshy. My dad said it was a muscle and not a node. Can a muslce be confused for a node. I also felt two bumps underneath my ear which feel the same as the node. Can it be a muscle ? My dad said the 3cm was a muscle and not a node. Can those be confused. A doctors opinion would be appreciated or someone with expierence.

It sounds like your lymph nodes. You have them running down the entire side and back of your neck. They feel like bumps.

There are more muscle in the groin and under the arm where a swollen lymph node would not be as noticeable. There is not alot of muscle in the neck. So a swollen lymph node is what you are probably feeling.
that is surely an inflamed lymph node. muscle don't move up and down with external forces. it stays in place along its course but can be traced side to side. muscles are enclosed by the group with a fasia (thin layer of plastic like tissue) to let it move freely and smoothly thru actions.
