anyone else have hypothyroidism(thyroid disease) and just suddenly stop taking their levoxyl/synthroid?

ive only been out for a week or two now... as far as I know its not deadly to be without the medicine.. and I want to see how I do without it.....instead I have been taking kelp..is this a bad decision? I have had a lot of dizziness and fatigue.. causing me to believe I have gallstones or something.

my wife was in the same situation. Its not deeadly to be without it, but its not healthy either I think. The kelp provides iodine which you also need. I read about this stuff awhile back and its sort of complicated involving T3 and T4 which interconvert, they regulate sex drive, body temp, mood, and other things.

dearest, get back on the syntroid. yes, it can cause medical problems other than weight gain, dizziness and fatigue. if you are in child-bearing years, this is also important. i quit taking my synthroid because the doc said i could. get back on it! your health is not a plaything, it is all you have.
I am hypothyroid, I take synthroid and it's not expensive so why would you want to take the chance. Not only that but the side effects are not always fun to have, like with hypo, it's hunger, hair falling out, nails won't grow, fatigue depression. and many more.
but as I said, why take the chance with your health, it's worth more than 13 or $14. a month!

Dizziness and fatigue are some of the symptoms of suddenly going off of your medication. This is not a good idea. Contact your doctor and discuss this with him/her. It is never wise to suddenly discontinue any prescription medication. Take the advice of some one who also has a thyroid disease such a decision can be dangerous.

Hypothyroidism if not treated can lead to other medical conditions.sleep apnea, increase risk of heart problems, and myxedema..which can be severe. I go without my synthroid for maybe a couple of days and am okay but i can tell within a week if I stop taking it. Your symptoms will reacccur if you stop. It may be a pain to take a pill every day but it is definitely better than the symptoms
