Embarrassing....help!.
My dad has the bad habit of scratching his (according to me itchy) genitals in front of everyone in the house. Sometimes he even does that standing in the open door or in the garden. It's so embarrassing with the neighbours around us! I asked dad to shun the practice since I'm always open with him. But he continues doing that. Now I think it's some really serious veneral disease or STD..if someone knows of similar symptoms, please advise. Coz my dad is forever doctor-shy.and STDs? No chance of him ever dicussing them with a doc! Help!!

All guys scratch. It's probably not an STD. It's more likely just a lack of concern for those around him and how they view this behavior.
You should confront him honestly and tell him how you feel. If he chooses to change the behavior, that's great. If he chooses not to change his behavior, you can (respectfully) tell him that you choose not to be around him when he engages in behavior that is not socially acceptable and is embarrassing to you and those around him.
If it IS a medical issue, you should tell him that you are concerned for his health and ask him to talk to his doctor.
he's a guy. guys (even little boys) do this.
I doubt he has an std unless he's like doing it all the time - it's probably a habit.
Most often "jock itch" is the result of the same fungus responsible for "athletes foot". Your father may benefit from over the counter medication specifically formulated for his individual problem. I would also visit a physician if the problem continues despite treatment.
Honey, ALL guys do this. I know that it is embarrassing, but I doubt that he has an STD. And if he's been doing this his whole life, I doubt that he is going to change anytime soon.
He's just being a guy. Hell, I do the same thing!
I wonder about the same thing.. an STD or it could be some type of habit too..
You've asked him to stop so I don't know what more you can do.. Try talking to your mom. Maybe get one of the neighbors to try "embarrassing" him into it by amking some sort of comment to him.. the next time he does this.. have a neighbor come up to him and say something like 'maybe you should see a Dr about that itch" or something along those lines.
it is normal i do it
Guys just gotta scratch themselves sometimes. Most men scratch themselves or "situate" themselves in open company. If you are still concerned about it. Just tell him your concerns about it being more serious and reiterate that it bothers/embarrasses you. Anything after that is up to your dad-he is a grown man and only he can take care of his personal health.
yyes my husband does this to. they don't realize how bad it looks. feel luck it this is your dads only bad habit, my husband likes to pick the back of his arms even in public, and then there the house hold crap, bathroom seats, toilet paper empty, dirty clothes everywhere, blah blah blah blah the list goes on and on...good luck though
maybe he's just itchy.some people just have to scratch..just think of it as a habit until ur dad feels comfortable discussing this with u any further
he's prolly just got a bad habit, but he may try a different brand of detergent and wearing all cotton drawers. put ivory soap in the shower, and if you can get him to take an epson salt bath now and then, the salts have a deep cleansing action that might eliminate any sort of dank that is developing (men can get a kind of mildew there, which is more likely than an std).
Scratching, "situating", any of that sort of thing is COMPLETELY NORMAL. In public, most guys try to refrain to an extent, but if you had a joystick, you'd know what it's like to have it bent every which way and the itching can drive you nuts (pun intended)!
Please advise your father to buy and use itchguard which can be bought from India. It will save your father from scratching at odd times and embarassing you infront of your family members and neighbours
