Why Is Gallbladder Surgery So Common?
I am 24 and about 3 years ago I had my gallbladder removed. Since then I've either heard about or talked to other people around my age who've had the same surgery done..they've been mostly female. I was just wondering why this seems to be such a common procedure for this age group? Has it always been like that? Is age a factor, or location, or diet? Just curious.
Answers:
actually, not only diet (all the preservatives and steroids in meats) but, gallstones can be an indicator of liver disease.
folks, if you've ever had your gallbladder removed, PLEASE get tested for diseases that can destroy the liver such as NASH, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C! (HCV 's ratio is 1 in 4!)
HCV is thought of as a silent disease, but many are being treated for the bi-directional diseases HCV can cause!
If Your ALT and AST's are normal, don't think your fine, have the doc run an HCV antibody test, regardless of the more popular risk factors!
Over 4 million in the US alone have HCV and many do not know they have it!
GET TESTED!
To think about it.i had my gallbladder surgery in 1998 which would made me 25ish...
I dont think age or location is a factor..
its possible diet play a partial factor
Because people these days have more and more problems with there gallbladder like gallstones. Doctors choose to remove it to prevent sickness and other developing problems. Now its simply done by a laser on outpatient basis so its much more safer then it was when they had to do an incision to remove it.
because of diet. i had mine out at the age of eighteen. i think they can be hereditary (spelling) first my mother, my father, my brother, my grandparents and me.
