Type 2 Diabetic with a question?
I am a type 2 diabetic who has just started using meds (15mg Actos daily) after many years of being diagnosed. Is it possible to ever get off of meds, if you lose weight and exercise? I've lost quite a bit of weight over the years, but still have some to go before I get to my goal weight. Serious answers only, please. Thanks!

It is possible to totally control diabetes type two with diet, exercise and a healthy lifestyle. The med you are on helps your body regulate or balance it's sugar levels. The closer to your ideal body weight and if you get exercise every day, your body will be able to regulate it's self more naturally.
Every person's situation/body is different.
My advice is to keep taking your pill but to also work on losing weight and exercise along with it and see how your body resonds to it. Talk to your doctor and find a weight goal or get a physical trainer who is specialized in working with diabetics. They work wonders and they help you achieve your goals.
If you treat your body right and give it what it needs then it will act right and treat you with the same kindness.
What we put in our mouths and injest constitues so much of how our body responds and is balanced.
Be as healthy as you can possibly be because you only have ONE body.
Yes but you have to watch what you eat and keep those blood sugars down
Theoretically yes, but it takes a lot of work, keeping weight down and keeping the calories you eat down. It becomes a full time job.
My father In law was also type 2 and he started really watching his diet and lost weight ,Hes no longer on his meds diabetic free.So yes it is possible to cure type 2 unfortunatly not type 1.
It is possible to get off the meds with a weight loss. I would talk to your doctor though. There may be other factors involved in your diabetes such as family history that may negate your coming off the meds.
