A serious medical question about excessive perspiration .?
For about the past 2 years I have had a problem with excessive perspiration .. but in the past 7 months or so . it has become miserable for me. I have not held down a job for a few years now .. but for unrelated reasons.. I have had my heart and my thyroid checked out .. no problems there. I don't think it is a psychological thing .. and my medications have not changed in many years .. This is NOT the condition where a person sweats too much on his/her palms, feet and underarms.. this is like massive sweating all over the whole body. It is like when you first step out of a shower on a very humid day and can not wipe the excessive wetness off your skin. It is as though my body thermostat is way off .. and once I heat up . .it can take hours for it to cool down. I will perspire right through undershirts and regular shirts.. This happens in rooms that are of normal temperature where other people are not affected at all. It can happen just walking through a Target store.

Why does everyone automatically assume that the asker is overweight? Asker could be a perimenopausal woman or could have other reasons, like neurologic, metabolic or systemic diseases.
Just like there are different reasons there are different treatments.
Over-the-counter antiperspirants -- usually tried first because they are readily available. Antiperspirants containing aluminum chloride (e.g., Certain-Dri) may be more effective when other antiperspirants have failed.
Prescription strength antiperspirants -- those containing aluminum chloride hexahydrate.
Iontophoresis -- a device which passes direct electricity through the skin using tap water.
Oral medications -- ones called anticholinergics which reduce sweating.
Botox (botulinum toxin) -- recently approved in the US by the FDA for treating excessive axillary (underarm) sweating.
Surgery -- cervical sympathectomy, as a last resort.
I hope you find help. Check the site below. Good luck.
Are you over weight? Are you unfit and not getting enough exercise. Sounds like it!
It takes effort to exercise but build up slowly. Try it and you may surprise yourself!
HI there..I am sorry you suffer so much thru this perspiration. I have the same problem, but not as excessively as you do. I weigh 300 pounds, though. Are you heavy?
The only thing I can think of is that you are overweight like me. I just wanted to show empathy, cuz I know what you are going thru. I hope someone can help you more than I can.
Excessive perspiration is also called diaphoresis, go to the link below and read...hope it helps..dont forget to consult ur own doctor
Well. One thing you should do is check your body temperature. Get some form of thermometer. Every day for one month, take your temperature just before you get out of bed. Also, take your temperature any time you experience sweating.
What you are looking for is abnormally high temperature. Because sweating due to this vs sweating when your temperature is normal are probably have two vastly different causes.
If it is not hormonal, it probably is hyperhidrosis, despite it being all over the body. There are medications you can take. If you take them and you get better, that's what it is. However, if your body temperature is abnormally high and/or spikes when you sweat (similar to a woman's hot flashes) then that is evidence of a hormone problem, meaning you should get a consult with an endocrinologist and have an extensive hormone panel pulled on you.

If your body temp is way elevated, it's probably hormonal. If not, my bet would be neurological.
Have you gone to a dermatologist (skin) or endocrinologist (hormones and glands)? Sometimes specialist can detect things that a general MD missed. They can probably help you more than a regular doc. Hope you find an answer! :)
