Echocardiogram vs EKG.?
what is the difference between the two?
what does one show in comarison to the other?
Answers:
The EKG is when they put little electrodes (stickers) on your chest, arms and legs and attach you to a host of wires. this shows the electrical activity in your heart at that exact moment. It can show fast or slow rhythms, old heart attacks or other things like that.
And Echo is just an ultrasound of your heart. Like pregnant women get to view their babies. They put gel on you and roll a tranducer on your chest. I think they can be more helpful at times because you get a real time view of the heart on the monitor and you can get more data whereas an EKG is just info based on a split second..
Neither one hurts by the way.
echo is the ultrasound and shows the structure of teh heart, ekg is reflection of heart electrical activity on the surface, it just shows how the wiring inside may be working, feel free to email me with any questions
EKG or electrocardiogram measures electrical potentials on the body surface and generates a record of the electrical currents associated with heart muscle activity.
An Echocardiogram is an image of the heart produced by ultrasonography.
echo shows mechanical movement of the heart an ekg simply follows the electrical current through the heart it has no flow of movement in the body. or a c and a k lol...
Echocardiogram has to deal with the heart
and EKG is with the brain.i've had 4 EKG's done and one was a 48 hour one
An EKG gives a view of how the heart is functioning use waves on a screen and or ekg sheet of paper. The medical staff ca measure the different waves P,QRS and T wave, to diagnose an abnormality in the heart's rhythm. An echocardiogram is a different test using ultrasound imaging to have a visual view of the heart as it is pumping. It mostly looks as how the blood flows through the heart through the chambers and its valves. It an detect muscle weakness in the heart and valve strictures.
