Aloha
Low Density Lipoprotein
High Density Lipoprotein
LDL stands for low density lipoprotein and HDL stands for high density lipoprotein. The first is also called as "bad cholesterol" and the second is called as "good cholesterol". The HDL should be higher than 40 in males and more than 45 in females. More on LDL here: http://drchander.com/ncep.html
LDL(low density lipoprotein) the type of lipoprotein derived from very low density lipoproteins(VLDL) as VLDL triglycerides are removed and broken down; composed primarily of cholesterol. This one is the bad one.
HDL(high density lipoprotein) the type of lipoprotein that transports cholesterol back to the liver from the cells; composed primarily of protein. This is the good one.
