They are taking over.
thats the way sadly people eat nowadays dont even have time to actually taste what they are eating
I live in Europe and our lifestyle is SO much different than in here. This is my second time in America, first time I didnt had so much time to see how people eat and do their things in here. But now i have been here three months and now i see the HUGE difference about food culture. Here its so much cheaper to buy food from fast food restaurants than buy healthier food from store. One eavning I was jogging at the town and I felt how people were staring at me.I have used to go for jogging, make my food myself from the scratch and eat ALOT of fish. Here i have only been eating shrimps and catfish. Im littlebit worried about the changes what this culture might bee doing to my body, im trying my best to eat healthy, but attempt to do it easy way is so obvious. Everywhere I go i see huge advertises about MCdonalds, KFC and other places, how strong is human mind? I dont want my body to change , but I know if i keep going to fast food restaurants I will loose my healthy ways of living my life and end up tired and over weight. Hopefully I stay strong. =o)
it is bad for your health. eating it in moderation or every once in a while is okay as long as you excersise. just like tv. you watch too much your brain loses smartness, fast food makes you lose life,
It's not the food/fast food that makes people fat it's lack of excercise. Fast food has been around for years and now it's all of a sudden making people fat, that is so stupid, if people were to eat it in moderation and get off the couch it wouldn't be a problem. Anyway who cares have you not heard it's a free country if someone wants to be fat that's there problem not yours unless your fat and looking for an excuse.
all the new diseases..like Alzheimers Disease ...
As well as all the other answers about people getting fatter from eating fast foods, another effect is that young people cannot cook a meal for themselves. My wife works in a University restaurant and has heard many of the students asking how simple meals are prepared., and even those who do cook for themselves, just look at their shopping carts and you will see that they are filled with microwave dinners - NOT the basics to cook for themselves.
making us lose our desire to make home cooked food instead which is far better as fastfood restaurants offer lotsa bad cholesterol, lotsa salty stuff and lots of sugar content on their desserts.maybe once in a while is okay.like once or twice a month so we wont be deprived totally.
only one answer obesity!!
Well, besides the obvious obesity epidemic in America right now, heart disease and diabetes are skyrocketing. This is all directly related to the fast food industry. People in America eat way too big of portions of all the wrong food and hardly any of the right food. There is not enough education about nutrition in America, today, because most Americans are clueless as to what a healthy diet even is. The FDA recommends that you get 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, which isn't that hard. You could eat an apple and a big salad, and that would do it. What percentage of Americans get their recommended intake of fruits and vegetables? 20%? Less? You could also argue that the startling rise in cancer rates is due to this fast food culture, not so much because of the fast food itself, but more the neglect of good nutrition.
turning us in to fat bas terds,
ill have a mcdonnalds double cheese burger
I'm a nutritionist and personal trainer - nutritionist wise my brother in law is in charge of helping to create the european balanced diet so I see all the arguments from national government down to the local level!

A nation who is educated in how to prepare healthy food and how to eat healthilty etc will be fine - fast food is ok for you so long as it's eaten in moderation - everyone goes on about fast food causing a fat nation but it doesn't.

If you ate 100 apples a day you will get fat (did you know that apples today now have 20% more calories than they used to because growers are making them sweeter - they now have more carbohydrtaes in them!).

Weight ain or weight loss is purley to do with calorific balance - if you are eating caloies than you are using (ie in a state of calorie surplus) then you will gain weight WHATEVER food you eat!

Many people think you should avoid all bad foods but you can eat anything provided you're excersising and provided that everything you eat is in moderation.

The only foods I would suggest you ignore are 'empty calorie' foods or foods with simple sugars, trans fats or saturated fats because they either spike your insulin (which lays down fat) or affect your 'bad' LDL colesterol levels which leads to heart attacks.

In short check out the nutritional info on the foods you're eating and then it's your choice - noone's forcing you to go into mcdonalds..!
