400 its fine
dotn listen to the retards above, who dont have clue about nutrition,
you'll lose like a pound every two or three days
That calorie intake is way too low. Your metabolism will shut down, as your body will think it has to hang on to every ounce of fat it possibly can--it will think it's in starvation mode.
400 Calories a day is nothing - way too little. You need to be careful that you dont starve your body. Your body may actually start storing fat instead of burning it becuase it's not going to know when the next meal is coming. Consider doubling your calories and then adding one more day of cardio.
Good luck!
400 calories a day is too low, you might have a hard time losing weight because your body thinks you are starving.
Increase your calories to about a 1000 and you should see some results.
good luck!
1 Big Mac per day.
400 calories a day is too low. You'll eat muscle
You'll be gaining. Your body will get used to this after the first two days, and your metabolism will slow down. Also, you'll lose muscle, not fat. Eat something, you idiot.
You must burn 3,600 calories to loose one pound. So to loose one pound in one week subtract 600 calories from your usual daily intake or burn 600 calories in activity and take one day off. It is easiest to break it up, eat 300 less cals, burn 300 more each day. As you can see it would be very difficult to loose more than 2 pounds a week. In addition it is harder if your metabolism is slow which it will be if you starve yourself.
The bennefits and adverse effects of VLCD (very low calorie diets) are highly debated but most experts agree they are not the safest or even the most effective way to loose wieght. They have some bennefits but weight loss isn't one of them because of the severe drop in metabolism. In fact it is this severe drop in metabolism that causes the main bennefit of extending the lifespan. This only works if you follow the diet your whole life and do it properly.
A VLCD can be done once you are within 5% of your target weight assuming you have a low metabolism and struggle to maintain the target weight and have activity restrictions. Its 600-800 cal/day, 75% protien and all nutrient dense foods. You do no demanding exercise without careful carb loading and subsequent increase in calories.
If you don't know the proper way to do a VLCD don't do it. You won't loose any weight in the end and may make future attemps at weight loss more difficult. You shouldn't do cardio or any exercise that is demanding on the muscles while on a VLCD because you will just destroy them. Your body will burn protien for energy when it is deprived and this make exercise a complete waste of time. You are going to be very frustrated in the end with all the work and sacrifice for nothing.
How are you going to eat at least 3 meals a day only consuming 400 calories? You just need to burn more calories than you take in then you will lose weight if you starve yourself on 400 caloires a day you will just mess up your metabolism.
first of all, If you weigh 140 lbs, you do not need to lose weight. 2nd you should not cut your calories to less then 1200 daily. Your body needs that many every day for you to normal things like walk to your car and etc.. Just cut back on your sugar and soda intake and you'll be fine.
You won't lose any. Your body, not getting enough nutrients, will lower your metabolism until you burn almost no fat. Your energy will go down so that you want to sleep all the time. It will begin eating your muscles because that's the only real source of food left to it, and then you will never be able to develop them again, because they will be gone. You need to stick with 1200 calories a day at the MINIMUM to lose weight, and you should be able to lose three pounds a week, which is HEALTHY.
400 calories a day you will die. You are doing exercise so you need to raise that calorie intake by at least 3 times!
You will not lose weight eating 400 calories per day. Your body will enter into starvation mode and horde EVERY calorie and EVERY ounce of fat it can.
Plus, you will ruin your metabolism and harm your body, perhaps irreparably. And you can damage your heart and other vital organs by starving yourself. Your non-essential organs will begin to shut down and your body will eventually start eating itself in order to survive.
So stop the nonsense now before it's too late.
400 calories is too few for someone your height. An average adult should consume 2000 calories a day. You are only starving yourself and the weight you lose will come back because you didn't lose it in a safe, healthy way.
After the initial quick drop off, expect to lose one or two pounds a week. The way you are doing it is unhealthy though. You could eat about 1200 calories a week, work out a little more, and get the same result...and you would be much healthier.
400 calories is an incredibly unhealthy and dangerous way to lose weight don't do it! If you do the beyonce maple syprup diet you will lose a lot of weight very quickly but you will lose muscle tone as well and as soon as you start eating normally the weight will creep back on. The healthiest way to lose weight is to decrease your calorie intake by 500 calories to 1000calories per day then you lose weight normally, and remember to exercise,
well doll, trying to starve yourself won't work. THe body knows when it is being starved and will make it much harder for you to lose weight if you do this. Just eat sensibly, 400 cals a day is not only unhealthy, it's reckless and dangerous. Watch what you eat and get some cardio exercise, you'll be fine and lose weight at a healthy pace instead. After all, how long did it take you to gain 13 lbs? Well, it's going to take a lot longer to remove it safely. Use your head.
It is not safe to eat only 400 calories a day. Your body thinks it is starving and it will start to feed of healthy musclue and your organs. That few calories is defined as anorexia. You must eat a minimum of 1,000-1,200 calories a day to safely lose weight. You should never lose more than a steady 2-3 pounds per week if you want to stay healthy and keep the weight off.
Please go see a doctor about the proper way to lose weight.
I think that it's not healthy to stick to 400 calories you need to have like at least 1000 and I would exercise daily not 3 times a week. Weightloss is simple math eat less calories than you burn each day but it would be much better to exercise more and eat a little more than starve yourself. At that rate you will lose energy and be lazy most of the time trust I tried it before with a 1 6" subway diet a day thing. I lost wait for a few days but eventually didnt have any energy to exercise.
To be honest 400 calories is not enough to sustain a healthy body. In other words, your body will go into starvation mode and end up retaining and storing everything you eat. Now with only 400 calories a day and all that exercise you will probably lose weight pretty durastically, however the minute you begin eating even remotely normally you will gain the weight back. I suggest eating no less than 1200 calories a day and try to stick to protein rich foods. You will lose 1-3 lbs a week but will keep it off because you will lose body fat instead of muscle mass as you would with only 400. In turn your body will be lean and toned along with being slimmer. Good luck!!
400 calories is way too little.
You would probably lose a lot, but then you will end up gaining it all back, if not more, because you are slowing your metabolism since you are putting your body through starvation mode, so it trys to store anything it can get. So my advice to you is to see a doctor because they can help figure out a plan that will work for you. But all you really have to do is stick to the basics..eat healthy, exercise, drink lots of water. Good luck :}
400 calories a day is too few. you will make yourself ill!!
thats not much to eat is it. better to take it slow. read tips and more on weight loss and exercise on this site. also calorie counting
You'll be too weak to do any exercise at all.
You have a lot to learn about your body. I suggest researching the web like I did and educate yourself on how your body works. I don't count calories anymore because everything I eat is healthy. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies. I include protein in my diet for the energy I need to do my exercise, otherwise I get real tired and can't work out. Certain foods make you tired too like bread and pasta. Keep the carbs on the low side. By all means, make sure you don't have any food or drink with MSG or high fructose corn syrup. They are ingredients that deliberately make people fat so we can buy more diet pills and consume more junk food cause they are addicting like drugs. Education is the key to a skinny future for life. Please read about what's in your food and avoid these chemicals. Teach your friends too. You will be much happier in the long run.
One more thing, to keep your metabolism running high, you need to eat more to loose weight. Alot of these answers on here are right. I once found a website that explained all this to me. Like I said before, do the research on dieting
to lose weight, you should be eating between 1500-1700 calories a day and 2000-2200 to maintain your weight. 400 calories is going to put your body into starvation mode and it will conserve every calorie you eat. you need to be changing the way you eat; make healthier choices. eat plenty of brightly colored, high fiber fruits, vegies, berries, and whole wheat whole grain high fiber carbs such as breads, tortillas, rolls, cereals, crackers, oatmeal, and plenty of soy producst, low/nonfat dairy products, and lean protein choices such as chicken, fish, turkey, ham, beans, peanut butter and peanuts. you need to eat 3 moderate meals a day and 3 snacks a day and add weight/resistance training to help build muscle and keep your metabolism revving. drink plenty of water and green tea. you need to exercise at least 30 minutes 4 days a week and add more days and time as you get more fit. get healthy don't just get skinny. skinny does not equal healthy.
im 5 '4 and 140 and i think im over weight just a tad! but i need help losing weight to because i need help shaping my body cuz i have SUPER high hips.
Caution: if you eat this way for longer than two weeks, you will lower your metabolism and will regain a lot of the weight if you go back to eating normally. "The Rotation Diet" is a good book, because it discusses dieting in 3 week increments, taking a break from dieting, and then going back on so you don't lower your metabolic rate. You could lose 10 pounds in one month by eating 1200-1600 calories a day. 400 calories is fasting, and you might end up passing out!
