Am I doing this the right way?

I have recently began to exercise and eat healthy. I have been power-walking for an hour daily and eating right. If I do not have access to a gym, is this the most effective way for me to lose weight? Should i do something else besides power-walking, like walking or jogging?

Answers:
The key is to check your heart rate. If you do power walking, your heart rate should be high. If you are reducing weight, you should do the following calculations: (220 minus your age)*65 to 70%. If you are trying to be really fit, you should aim for 80%.

You should also lift weights to continue burning. Eat 5 - 6 times a day in small portions.

Happy reducing..

keep up the power walker it just as good as jogging
Exercise at levels you feel most comfortable. If after powerwalking for a long period of time (over the course of weeks/months, etc), you find you are no longer challenged physically, then step up your routine. Try something more physical.

If you have a heart rate monitor, it will help to guage when you are ready to step up your exercise.
keep it up.just do a bit more every week or soo.keep increasing ur load.
It depends how your body is made
keep what you are doing
Except in cases of metabolic disorders, losing weight is all about numbers - calories in versus calories out.

When your calories out (burned in exercise, by walking, whatever) are more than your intake, you burn fat for energy, and lose weight.

If you can power walk for an hour each day, it's a great way to burn calories without undue strain on your joints, and can, for some people, be very relaxing.

Of course, jogging or running for the same period of time will burn more calories, but will also cause more fatigue and a higher risk of energy.

Bottom line - if you enjoy what you're doing now, stick with it!

Best of luck :)
Do some yoga as well read some tips on it and other exercises on this site
Hi
Try this simple plan it really works so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx

Good luck
