a weight lost question?
I am working on losing weight but I am craving junk food. My favorites are sunflower seeds, soda, candy and cheese popcorn. I eat healthy meals but when the craving hits I can't help but to drive to the store to buy it. What should I do about these cravings? I am going to see a dietician tuesday but I need some help now.

Try this for a start, and then go on to a healthy lifestyle, well balanced diet and regular exercise. This will work..
BASIC FAT BURNING SOUP
6 large green onions 2 green peppers
1 or 2 cans of tomatoes [crushed] 1/2 bunch of celery
1 large head of cabbage 1 pkg. Lipton onion soup
4 cups of water
Season with 1/4 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. pepper, 1/4 tsp. curry, 1 Tbsp. parsley, if desired or bouillon or hot sauce. Cut vegetables in small to medium pieces and cover with water. Boil fast for ten minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue cooking until vegetables are tender. This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat the more you will lose. Fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day. If eaten for indefinite periods you would suffer malnutrition.
==============================.
DAY ONE: All fruits except bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits. Eat only the soup and fruits. For drinks; unsweetened tea, cranberry juice, or water.
DAY TWO: All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with all the fresh, raw, or canned vegetables. Try to eat green leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas, and corn. Eat along with the soup. At dinner time on this day, reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter. Do not eat any fruits.
DAY THREE: Eat all the soup, fruits, and vegetables you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten for three days as above, and have not cheated, you will have lost 5 to 7 pounds.
DAY FOUR: Bananas and skim milk. Eat as many as 8 bananas and drink as many glasses of water as you can on this day along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates and so is the milk, but on this particular day your body will need the potassium and
the carbohydrates, proteins and calcium to lessen your craving for sweets.
DAY FIVE: Beef and tomatoes. You may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes or as many as 6 fresh tomatoes on this day. Try to drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water
this day to wash away the acid in your body. Eat the soup at least once this day.
DAY SIX: Beef and veggies. Eat to your heart's content of the beef and vegetables this day. You can even have two or three steaks if you like with the green leafy vegetables, but no baked potato. be sure and eat the soup.
DAY SEVEN: Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables. Again, stuff yourself. Be sure to have the soup at least once today.
At the end of the seventh day, if you have not cheated on the above diet, you will have lost 10 to 17 pounds. If you have lost more than 17 pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming again from day one.
This seven day eating plan can be used as often as you like. As a matter of fact, if correctly followed, it will clean your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being as never before.
After only seven days of this process, you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 and possibly 17 pounds, having an abundance of energy. Continue this plan as long as you wish and feel the difference.
This diet is fast, fat-burning, and the secret is that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. This diet does not lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beveragesat any time because of the removal of fat build-up in your system. Go off the diet at least 24 hours before any intake of alcohol.
Because everyone's digestive system is different, this diet will affect everyone differently. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began, if you did not cheat. After
being on this diet for several days, you will find your bowel movements have changed. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you may find that you don't need the caffeine after the third day.
DEFINITE NO-NO'S: Fried foods, bread, alcohol, no carbonated drinks, including diet drinks. stick with water, unsweetened tea, black coffee, unsweetened fruit juices, cranberry juice, and skim milk. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish or baked chicken {skinless} for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need the high protein in the beef the other day.
The Basic Fat Burning Soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry. Eat as much as you wish. Remember, the more you eat, the more you will lose. Continue this plan as long as you wish and feel the difference both physically and mentally.
Any prescribed medication will not hurt you on this diet.

Learn to like cabbage, celery, carrots, etc. rather than cheese popcorn, candy, etc. Instead of soda drink more water. Keep things around and ready to eat that are good for you like fresh vegetables and fruits. Learn to JUST SAY NO to junk foods. Oops, I gotta go, my microwave kettle corn is burning. (NOT!)
try sumthing healthier in its place. like when i want candy, i go get an orange instead. its still sweet but its the good kind.
Try finding healthier alternatives to the stuff you crave. Like instead of soda, drink diet soda. eventually you will get used to that artificial sweetener taste and it will satisfy you as much as regular soda! Get low fat popcorn and chew sugar free gum instead of eating candy :)
Two suggestions. One is to drink lots of water, LOTS of water, to stay bloated. Another, that I just read about today on the internet, is to fill up with as much fresh fruit as you can possibly eat. Then you can eat whatever meal or snack you want. You probably won't want to eat too much of the junk food item.
when you're craving, have a glass of cold water. wait fifteen minutes. if you're still craving do it again. if you're still craving, then allow yourself a little bit, anything in moderation is ok, but honestly the water thing works.
smoothies from the abs diet book. 2-3 hundred calories. same as a snikers bar but. you get nutritional value. usually a bunch of fiber and protien to go with all those vitamins in em. plus they taste like you should feel guily but there is no need to. plus if the serving isnt enough for you you can add extra ice to add volume w/o adding calories. the book is only 8 dollars you can get the newsletter for free. tons of great tips and recipes
nuts are one of the staples of the absdiet.
you might consult the diatician about following the abs diet then you could stop seeing them earlier. i dont like dieticians bc most dont appriciate small amounts of change

to make these cravings go away you need a portion of protein. i am a med student. dont listen to these fruit people. the protein in these smoothies wipes it OUT completely. 5-6 peices of fruit could add up the 200 cal anyway. there are ways to make the smoothies seconds away. buy frozen precut fruit and whey protein(one choc one vanila) buy a small bag of each. PLZ just try em. YOU WILL LOVE THEM. show the recipes to your dietician. they should agree.
also an once of almonds and a few chocolate chips usually tides me over plus you get your super good monounsaturated fats.
peace to all
and good luck\\
diet sodas make you hungry. dont listen to that guy. or the crack guy either
Sounds like you can still have those things but within moderation. Sunflower seeds are high in protein so they aren't that bad, switch your sodas to diet and for every soda you drink, also drink a glass of water. I love candy too, sometimes I feel that if you have a few hersheys kisses they will satisfy your craving for candy and you will feel alot better that you didn't eat a whole box of chocklate. The popcorn at the movie theatre is 98% fat free if you do not put all that butter on it. So goodluck in your endeavors and if you stick to the shortcuts you will come out in the end.
chew gum. I chew Orbit Bubble Gum flavor so it gives me a sugar craving fix.
Sunflower seeds actually aren't that bad.
Diet soda (A&W diet root beer or cream soda are pretty good!), Low-fat candy (anything gummi is okay) and air-popped or light popcorn.
Good job going to a nutritionist!
Well I have found if I don't eat them the craving does not happen but once I eat one it's very very very hard not to eat more, especially salty or sweet things. Basically fill up on water and high fiber foods so you're less hungry for the sweet and salty stuff in the first place.
Also, you might try an anti-parasite cleanse. They help reduce cravings from my experiences.
One of the ways I work with my cravings is by writing. It sounds hokey but there is a book about getting in touch with your "inner child". It seems alot of times we are taught to comfort ourselfs with food. So when you get these cravings it can be because something is evoking feelings that you aren't recognizing. When you get a feeling sit down and write the question with your dominant hand "why do I want this food"? Then let your non dominant hand answer. This can help you get in touch with that inner dialouge that is running through your head telling you that you need this food. "talk" to yourself this way and see if there is a better solution - something that will make you feel better but not force you into eating something unhealthy.
I've been unsing this technique along with a diet from a dietician and I have lost 34lbs.
I am glad that you're Trying!
Listen! I used to do weights, supplement powders and the whole nine!
I ate Very slim all week and let myself enjoy on the weekends!
I ate many mini-meals in the course of a day. Very low fat.
seeds aren't that bad for you, but the rest of those are. Every time you feel the urge, find a fruit you like or veggie and eat that instead.
keep the sunflower seeds ( no salt ), regular popcorn, no sweeteners, cheese, caramel. If need be add seasoning from your pantry: garlic powder, Parmesan cheese(grated), onion powder.
Many bottles.8 of water a day. Unsweetened ice tea, salads, nothing fried. No skin on chicken or cook with shin for moisture, but remove for eating. Put down your fork.
I have the same problem. I started working out at a gym. The more pain that I endured at the gym, the less I desired junk food. When I exercise hard, it seems to "regulate" my appetite. I also sleep better. And, when I see results in the mirror, that makes me want to workout more, and eat less junk food.
drink a lot of water it makes u feel full or maybe buy those pre packaged snacks so u limit the calories when u have to have it. i'm going to the store to buy chips and dip u mademe hungry
Good job on trying to lead a healthy lifestyle. This method works for cravings and gives you energy, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol and will help you sleep better. Use 2 tbsp of organic apple vinegar mixed with 2 tbsp of honey (raw honey is best) mixed with 6-8 oz of warm water. Sip 2-3 times daily before meals. I use this method and it works wonders.
