I am about to start working out. I will be able to work out 3-4 times a week. Need Advice...?
I will be going to a fitness center with all the usual machine and indoor track. Could someone tell me what exercises and workouts I should do starting out. I am not in shape but I don't need to lose much weight, I do have a little gut, I just want to get toned out and in shape. Thanks!

Most gyms these days have physical trainers you can meet with (some for a fee and some places offer for free) but they will show you all kinds of workouts you can do.
Keep in mind... alternate between upper and lower body. For instance, do upper body on Monday and Wednesday and lower body on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Or however it works into your schedule.
When ever you start lifting weights, you want to start out with a comfortable weight, not too light, not too heavy and do whatever number of reps you can to the point where your muscles start to feel fatigued. Wait 15-30 seconds and then repeat.
I could give you the names of exercises to do but if you are just starting out then you may or may not be familiar with what they are.
You can also start out with the machines, they generally have a picture and description of what muscle groups are worked on with each machine and they tell you how to perform.

go hard at the gym and go harder at the dining room table. its more about what you eat than anything else. its hard to lose more than 1 pound of fat each week and do it healthily. personal trainers are always the best option.
Do light weights with a lot of reps to get toned instead of bulky. Go out and get a Men's Health magazine or check their website for great "stay fit" workouts. This is probably one of the few magazines that promote a healthy fitness routine, instead of steroid-esque ads on every page.
Buy a Men's Fitness magazine. Ask the guy behind the counter at the gym what he recomends, take that with a grain of salt. Start out with 20 min of cardio on your machine of choice (elliptical is good on the knees). Move to 30 minutes after 2 weeks.
im in fotball nd one thing ive learned when we work out is that when u work out u should work out your upperbody one day nd the lower body the next the reason this is so is because once u are burning all the fat nd making new muscle u need time in order for the new muscle to grow and if u dont well ull nevr really frow any new muscle and your work out will be kind of useless
go/jog/run/walk to library and check out books related to exercise. it's free.
