any runners who hav sore toes? badly bruised?
i need to be able to run but dont know how to protect them for further bruising,help!

I have never had sore toes from running. Are your shoes long enough? Maybe you need to cut some holes at the end to let your toes poke out.
I once kicked a lampost to make the sound of a headbut as I mimicked a headbut to a lampost. That caused a bruised/hairline fracture in one of my toes. However, it had nothing to do with running.
I used to get sore toes, but never badly bruised. The pain i think was from a pair of running shoes that did not fit me well.
If they are badly bruised, I would stop running for a bit, get fitted for new shoes (make sure you feet are not swollen). You can also go to the chemists and ask for cream that will help reduce the bruising and make it heal faster
You should let them heal for a few days at a minimum. Use a cooling foot soak for a few days. The problem is your shoes. Try a wider shoe with a good support. The heel, arch, and the front pad of your foot are all impacted depending on the way your foot hits the ground when you run. Since your toes are bruised and sore, I think a wide running shoe with a gel type pad insert will make a huge difference. Then there is always a trip to the doctor to make sure there isn't any problems with your feet. Hope this helps.

Maybe your shoes are too narrow at the front, or your running incorrectly downhill.
The absolute best way to run is barefoot.
But in today's world of litter and muck best stick with a proper running shoe and proper running socks.
You can do a lot of damage if you exercise incorrectly.
Techniques for running on flat, downhill, uphill all need to be learned. Breathing, warming up and pacing are also important.
Trust me, I stopped running at 22 when my legs seized up and my knees had no more cartilage left. I got too competitive and trained too hard incorrectly. Had a good 7-8 years though.
Without proper techniques you MAY be doing more damage than good. But don't stop running.
Find a good website that teaches technique.

How far r u running, if marathon distance then ok ish and will probably lose some nails along the way. Try soft sufaces or a treadmill for a bit and check that trainers are still suitable and not worn out.
Your shoes don't fit. This is very common, especially for women. Be sure that you have ample toe room. Right now, you are probably cramped and your toenails are bumping against the end of the shoe. (I suppose theoretically your shoes could be too big and there's too much room, but I am guessing on the former).
Get a professional fit with an emphasis on toe room. It'll take a while for your toes to heal, but at least it shouldn't happen again.
Also, check the length of your toenails.
I've been running for 10+ years and never had any problems with bruised nails -- I usually buy my shoes half a size bigger than measured.
