well that questions really depends on a lot of factors.
One it depends on how fast you are walking. Say you are walkingat a speed of 3km per hour than I reckon that you are burning about 200++ calories(I am being conservative by stating the lower band). So if you walk to school about 5 times a week that woul be about 1000++calories lost.
To burn a kg of fat you need to burn at lessat 3500 calories. SO for about a yr...excluding holidays i would say about 200 days of walking. taht would burn about 40000 calories and translate to a whopping 11kg.
However having said that, i like to add a few important points. Just life life is sooo complicated, the simple maths above is not as simple. there are a lot of factors that might help or hinder your efforts.
For example, i do not know your metabolism rate, i do not know what is your low calorie diet,...if it is too low.. below your resting metobolism rate your body will store energy instaed of burning to combat perceived starvation. This is an inbuild survival tool we cannot fight...Also the type of food eatten will help or not...wholegrain, fruit and vegetable go a long way.while refined flour products just sabotage your diet. Furthermore, I do not know your determination, that plays an important part is keeping to 40 min for a yr. I feel the best is to vary your workout once in a while.try other things like swimming or jogging or even tennis for a change once in a while.

well that would depend on the amount of calories you are consuming. because if you take in more than you are burning off, you can walk 24/7 and not gonna lose 1 lb.
