when i jog on the treadmil is it ok to hold the handrails?
as in will i still get the right amount of exercise on my legs instead of not holding myself. when i hold on my back kind of slants back and is not straight is this ok?
Answers:
If you hold on to the rails you are not getting the same amount of work to your legs. Your hands are now supporting some of your body weight, same goes for a stair climber, when you use your hands to hold on your are getting a less complete work out.
You may need to slow to treadmill down. The treadmill is a cardio machine, so find a pace you can maintain without using the rails.
When you run outside, do you hold on to something?
Yes if you don't want to fall off.
Yes, it's ok to hold, but you do put your back into a different position, which could cause it harm.
The handrails are usually only for mounting and dismounting. Use them to help at first, but try to work up to running/jogging without touching them as much, as your body will stand straighter, and you will excersize more of your system.
aaaaaaaaaaa if u dont want to fall down go boom
No, you would put strain on your arms and on the machine - maybe if you jogged lightly (4 MPH) it may be OK for stability purposes.
As you said, your posture would also be affected because your legs would no longer be straight and your back would be compressed.
It's "OK" to hold the rails but you won't get the same workout.
If you observe carefully you'll see that you're usually moving your legs more up and down instead of walking to keep up with the belt.
For an experiment, set the machine fast enough to push you and keep track of how you feel after 10 minutes, no holding on to the rail. The next day do the same test but holding on to the handrails. You'll almost certainly find that you've burned more energy (by your amount of sweat, or whatever) not holding on.
you'll get the same amount of exercise its just that you need to putyour back in a different position. If your moving your legs really fast and your back is bent that is really bad for your spine.
I do it all the time and I am okay, so I don't see why not.
