Answers:
All muscles are made up of millions of muscle fibres. There are 2 types of muscle fibres, type 1(slow twitch) and type 2(fast twitch). Type 1 fibres are mainly aerobic e.g. cardio and type 2 are mainly anaerobic e.g. weight lifting. Lifting weights causes an increase in the size of type 1 and type 2 fibres to increase strength. Cardio alone causes a decrease in the size of type 1 fibres and type 2 fibres, because smaller fibres are more aerobically efficient. Doing cardio and lifting together produce an interference effect, type 1 fibres stay the same size and type 2 grow a little.
This is why you have much smaller muscle gains when you are doing cadio while lifting and larger gains when you are doing no cardio. But to lose fat, cardio is still very effective due to the fat burn during the long periods of continuous exercise.
Basically it is very difficult to lose bodyfat while building much muscle, so it is better to go after one goal at a time. Do no cardio for a time for muscle growth, then have a period of cardio for fat loss or lose fat then go for muscle growth.
Whatever goal you are trying to acheive, you should always try to lift heavy as this will maximise your muscle gains and stop you from getting to a plateau. Anyway 40 mins per day of cardio is probably too because you could end up overtraining and maybe losing muscle mass.

Sounds good to me, just don't lift every single day, only a few times a weak, cause you have to give your muscles time to heal, otherwise you wont see great results, also be sure to watch your calorie intake
just make sure you get your heartrate up during the 40 minutes of cardio.
give it a month and makes changes as needed.
The more cardio you do the less big you will get. There is a reason that body builders lift heavy rather than light and do not do cardio. Cardio will rob your body of calories and which will then cause it to consume muscle. If you want to get cut you should do cardio and lift light with high reps for endurance rather than strength.
it is usually best to lose the fat before building muscle. However, you seem to be doing well because from what you are saying, you only need to lose 20 more pounds. Try not to lift heavy weights until after you drop the extra pounds because you don't want to build muscle on top of fat. You can still use lighter weights. It is most important to get rid of the weight. Once you reach your weight goal, you can do a little less cardio so you don't lose too much weight and increase the weights for muscle. Sounds like you are look good already. You can do it. Determination is the key word. Good luck.
