How do I rid myself of carb cravings?
Every day after a healthy lunch of fresh veggies and fruit, protein, fat and starch I have this crazy craving for carbs of some sort. Chips, a bun, a granola bar-anything. I'm not exactly hungry, but I would trade my cat for a sandwich. I'm trying to lose weight, but these cravings are doing me in. What can I do?
Answers:
I understand where your coming from! Ive became a big fan of tea. When ever I get hungry for anything carb I make myself drink hot tea.. also tell yourself you will think about getting a carb after you eat your healthy lunch.. most likely you will be full so then you wont want it then. Thats what helps me.. but damn if i can lose all my weight!
eat a loaf of bread
it may not be the carbs you are craving but the salt or fat..try eating some healthy carbs..colorful carbs..fuuuruits and vegetables..or some of those low card snacks. they help alot!
You can try to ignore them, or you can give into them. You can't get rid of cravings. At least not any way I'm aware of.
no such thing.
don't do atkins you'll die.
carbs making you fat is a lie, myth.
you're going to fail at this diet.
if you are starving then stop. try another diet.. how about the 'food pyramid diet' you know.. where the food pyramid shows you what is involved with a "WELL BALANCED DIET" which then you won't STARVE to DEATH!
also if you're starving then soon as you eat ANYTHING your body is going to horde is.. and your weight will double.
hydration is important also..
5 fruits and 5 veggies (fresh) a day.
minimal meat.
so on how about exercise you do that also right?
stop this fraud of a diet you're on, you're already suffering.
and please give the cat to a loving home.
Try eating some fruit. That helps with the cravings but it does take some time for the cravings for carbs to go away.
Drink more water to fill your stomach. And try to go for a brisk walk or run. Anything to force your body to use more of it's stored fat as energy.
starch is a carb, btw..you need carbs for any healthy diet the cravings will not stop because your body is telling you that you need them..but you just need the right kind, not simple carbs like white rice, russet potatoes, and white bread and crackers..try whole grains like oatmeal, barley, whole grain rolls and wild rice, just don't overdo it. also, fruits are carbs. try taking a fiber supplement before meals with lots of water to fiil your stomach.
Your body needs carbs everyday. Don't quit carbs altogether, just limit them. Try a piece of whole grain bread or a couple of melba toast wafers with you veggies & salads. It helps.
Give up the carbs for 3 solid weeks . no sugars, no starches. It's a response to seratonin caused by an insulin spike that causes the "craving". After 3 weeks, if you moderate your carb intake, you'll have very few cravings. If in time they do come back, do the 3 week thing again.
The book below desribes the craving response quite well. Good luck!
