Low Calorie Diet vs. Low Carb Diet - Which is More Successful?
Answers:
I've done both, and I've had far more success on low-carb simply because I find it easier to stick to. I'm not starving all the time and the food is tasty (and I can put butter on my veggies!). I also feel much better, my carpal tunnel syndrome has gone away, my plantar fascitis (sp?) has gone away, my hair is shinier, my skin is better, and I just had a physical and apparently I'm in great health too (after two years of low-carbing). I've lost 50 lbs so far.
This is my way of life now, I'd keep low-carbing even if I never lost another pound.
However, if you decide to do this I suggest you get the book for the plan you are interested in, READ it and FOLLOW it.
I personally follow Atkins, since the higher fat content keeps me from being hungry (I hate being hungry).
They are both worthless. Both have a negative impact on your metabolism.
Low Carb is good for losing fast because it hard to stick with it
Low Cal is good for the long run
The best is eating right (remember the food pyramid from school) and exercise.
They amount to the same thing. The truth is that if you take a major food group out of your diet you will eat less calories and therefore lose weight. So that's it, that's why low carb diets work that's why low calorie diets work. Eat less, do more.
I personally have been on a reduced carb eating plan for over a year. I have never had the success that I am have now. I try to keep my total carb intake (always remember to subtract the fiber count) to about 50-60 carbs a day. If you want to lose, aim for 40-50 a day. I am into maintaining because I lost about 20 pounds and have kept it off for over a year. I do have an occassional sweet.
As much as I hate to admit this, the low carb diet is indeed more effective as a short-term weight-loss system. Its ironic that even though you wind up consuming more fat to compensate for carb calories, you still dramatically lose fat. The problem with Atkins/low carb is that its very difficult to maintain beyond a certain time period, and requires an iron will. Its also not very healthy, as u inevitably load up on fat as a filling mechanism (which often includes a lot of garbage). I would absolutely avoid this system if you are a vegetarian or have naturally high cholesterol.
That said, the long-run system for better health is just a good old-fashioned proper balanced diet and exercise. This not only taxes your body less, it will, over the long term improve physical fitness. A good middle ground is to indeed reduce overall carb intake but not to the point of inducing ketosis (which is the trigger for Atkins), and consume healthy carbs (high fiber, whole wheat products)
in my opinion low carb diet is more successful than others.u can lose weight to use this method very easily and than fat gets lose.but the most important thing that keeping weight that u lost.for this u should make exercises regularly.
